Actually, I am going for a wild, jungle like look in this tank. It was an established tank with all plastic plants for the longest time, and I neglected it(but not the fish) while I was setting up and improving my SW tanks. I started putting plants in and replacing the plastic a little at a time, then yesterday did a re-scape. There are some things in there that don't show up in the pics, small cuttings, etc. When it grows in it will look a lot better. Now I'm eyeing my 46 bow for my next project, I'll probably combine the corals in that one with the nano in a new tank, maybe 30g cube.
THEN I'll do a complete artistic layout. Just think of all the cuttings I'll have with this tank!

Gmandese, I support you. Patience is a virtue in this hobby and hope your tank will grow little by little until it comes into full glory. Buying all plants at once to make a beautiful tank immediately, then trim off the extra once every too often makes it showroom piece but not a hobby! Step by step is a good way to get to familiar with different plants.

Ok, I picked up some Riccia moss tonight from Sean. I did a little tweaking with the plantings, and then I tied the riccia and java mosses on to the stick branches, using thread in a spiral pattern.
Pics of my progress:

Oh No. Hope you a good time maintaining them. They will float to the surface too often. Lucky that you don't have much of a filter or else, very soon you will hate the tiny pieces that break away from the main bunch. I use them only in a breeding tank to condition surface nesting fish and provide hiding space for the babies. Use it in a display = hard work.

Gerry, Your tank does look good. It definately look better than the pic. And once again, it's amazing that you keep this tank so aglae free and the water so crystal clear.

Also the 46G DIY hood is much better looking than the pic too.

With that much light you have in the 46 Bow and double 2-liter bottles CO2 factory, your plants are going to grow so fast that you need to give them out every week. Let me file the application first for the freebies.:tongueani .

My friend who tag along tonight is buying a whole bunch of different plants that he possibly can share the purchase with you. LMK

Thanks Guys,
I'm getting started with my 46bow planted tank. I'm working on some designs now, and going out to get the substrate. I need a nice driftwood log, but I HATE paying $30 or better for a piece of wood in the LFS. But, that's what convenience costs. The piece in my 29 I collected and skinned myself. Also hunting for just the right rocks.
