Just opened my bill too. Up 113$ a month. Only for six months though then it looks like it will be half that next year. Still BS they're hiking electric cost 675$ a year.

Cost of fuel goes up your electric bill goes up. Take the time to read the bill and what each charge is. And balanced billing will NOT lower your monthly payment. You will pay the same each month that's all. In the summer you pay less than you should but come the winter you pay more than you should. Come off balanced billing, monitor what you leave on and convert the house to LEDS. That's not a wise a** comment it's the truth. I saved roughly $45-50 a month by switching every bulb in my house to them. Took about 6 months to do but not expensive if you shop around.
And not everyone's bill will be going up $75+ dollars. Whoever posted that please stop posting stuff like that...

That rep was hitting the pipe on the job than. As far as the tank goes more efficient pumps help, run the tank slightly cooler. Heaters eat anTON of electric. As far as lighting goes I'm not going there. The biggest difference for me was switching to LEDs for the house and hounding my wife and boys about leaving stuff on that shouldn't be on. Doing some estimating my Plasma TV used more electric than anything in my house save for the wife's blow dryer and the stand alone heater in my basement.

There are many other reasons to hate him but a fuel surcharge rise is not his doing. Yes he is an a**hat but let's lay blame where it belongs.

Phily I do alot to keep my bill down. A few year back they said get 16w bulbs it will lower your bill and buy energy efficient appliances. Well I did that and guess what never saw a decrease in price because they just started charging more. Every bulb in my house is a 16w bulb. Just found a bill from 2009. My electric bill was 175 dollars per month. So in 5 years time my electric bill doubled and in 2009 I was using standard 60w bulbs
