Tony, just curious why you are going with Phosban vs Bio-Pellets. I went with pellets, just because I did.....

As far as your flow, do you mean which setting in the MP10? I think that depends on how much flow you want to change. You can play with it a bit and see which you like best. But be careful, depending on how close to the substrate it is, if you have it on a volatile setting, then you can create a sand storm. I actually had my MP40 set too high and it dug a trench in my sandbed right down to the glass.

I installed my 2 MP40s last Saturday. I had them on short pulse about 60% to start. This blasted all the crap off my rocks and on the substrate. Monday I switched to reef crest 40%, no night mode and my tank has never looked better. In that size tank I would start them real low and work up till you start moving sand.

I would let things cycle without running any reactors for the 1st four weeks.
After that for the remaining weeks of the cycle I would still let things keep cycling but switch my skimmer on so it starts breaking in.

Even after an 11 week rubbermaid cycle with zero lighting my Pukani rock is still leaching a small amount of phosphates. After that 11 weeks it has now been in my tank for 2 months and I still have phosphates in the .05-.08 range.

so why would it be a problem to start the phosban reactor w/phosban now to start hitting phosphates

I would take my time and let them leach out and get rid of them via water changes. I think the levels of phosphates you have now will be exhausting your media too fast for it to be worth it $$$ wise. Then again my sit and wait approach is hard to follow.

Salifert is one of the better test kits, I used that before my hanna checker.
