Gonna go against the grain and suggest a subaru Legacy GT. I got mine with 10 miles on it for a little under 30K. I belong to a Legacy forum, and people usually sell their used cars in the price range you're looking for. It has 4 doors, AWD and a turbo. what more can you ask for. I have put minimum $ into my car and am pushing about 280HP at the wheels. It's rated 250HP at the flywheel stock. It is fun to drive, and in the snow it is a glorious thing to push it sideways (on a closed course obviously).

anything subaru. I have a WRX and just picked up a forester- could not be happier with it as a daily driver. Sporty, fun, loads of space, and won SUV of the year again.

pm me if you have questions.

E. I would reccomend an LX series Mopar. Charger, 300, Magnum, 6.1 hemi. 425hp. 425tq. Balllllls all day. Handles good. Cheap to fix. You can get one used for 15-20 Esp. out of state. If you want AWD get the cherokee SRT.
Whatever you do. BUY AMERICAN PLEASE.

In regard to buying american: normally I'm all for it. Trust me. I'm on board, especially because I'm from upstate where most people drive american cars/trucks. But honestly there's not a lot of fun american cars out there.

I like your car chef, but it's just not a good fit for me. I'm still considering a Camaro or the Lincoln mentioned previously. (As well as other cars).

IMO I like the way this thing drives http://www.hyundaiusa.com/genesis-coupe/ and for the money you cant beat it right where you want to be dollars and cents wise and no1 can get close to its warranty go drive then tell me what you think.

VW jetta bad electrical system 3 weeks in shop and still not fixed no ty.

Acura TL and honda both cant build a transmission

Toyota alot of money but great car 1 of the best running cars and hold its value well.

Audi (looked at 1 these for my kid) asked the dealer what it would cost replace the broken and missing glovebox door they said $750 for glovebox door? I told my kid to forget audi's.

So I got him a dodge stratus which is actually a mitsubishi 3000gt with a dodge emblem on it and if I may say dodge and mitsubishi cant stick this car up their A$$ the thing is in the shop more than it is on the road.

again just my opinion.

Im a mechanic and i can tell you from years of experience. Stay away from gm chyr and ford all i see is problems with there cars at very low mileage and not little thing big thing . And dont buy a Audi or a VW they are a tone of problems see them in the shop all the time from brand new to used. stick to nissan toyota lexus infinty hyundai there cars are great.Remember think maintenance you dont want a car thats going to be in the shop all the time and heart your pockets. If your looking for a pickup then go ford F150 there great truck the only great thing ford makes. Oww stay away from mazda they are junk made from ford very bad cars.

thanks dubs.. yeah, the cc is nice, but it's a lot over budget. I'm also trying to stay away from VW right now.

I was reading earlier that the Camaro, even with a V6, has 300 horsepower. Even though the car's a bit big.. it still sounds like a fun ride.

Last car purchase a 2009 Honda Civic LX 4 door $18K plenty of leg room, air bags everywhere, and great on gas.

The s2000 is FARRRRR from a chick car lol. But man if a chick drives it... that's hot.

It's not like I'm telling him to buy a Beetle Convertible with that stupid flower holder on the dash.

-I own a 2009 Honda Accord LX-P. Love the car to death as a daily driver it's great. Probably a car you'd want in the future when you have a kid or something.
-I also have a 2005 Acura TSX. My fun car... pretty much a 4 door s2000.

-I am looking into a s2000 also but problem is it's a collectors car so the prices don't come down too much.
-The Camaro is nice but no dealer lets you test drive it which I think is retarded.
-Take a look at the Hyundai Genesis Coupe. I think you'll like it.
-Also consider used Nissan's. A 350z Convertible is nice and those things barely hold any value so you can get a nice used one for a great price.

To the point with Toyota's and resale value. Keep an eye on that. With all the scrutiny Toyota has been under, values have started going down.

TSX would be fun too. If I didn't get laid off from my past job (and take a HUGE salary cut at the current) I'd be looking more closely at that level car.
You can't test drive a Camaro? Wtf. Haha.

I also want to test drive the 350z and the Mazda rx8. Hopefully the depreciation on the z is just perception and not due to actual problems with the car
