Kasei...it's like the blind leading the blind :D

I am redoing my skimmer plumbing now. Instead of capping off the T, I am going to use 2x90 degree elbows and make it dump back into the sump. That way I will still have a vent hole to reduce back pressure but if the collection cup fills the water will go back in the sump instead of flooding.

I'll take this whole mess as a learning experience. I should have tested every angle of the plumbing...I'll be sure to do so in the future!

Yep, I was talking about the 1.5 inch T. I had it capped off with a 1/2" hole drilled. When the waste collerctor filled the water came out of the hole in the cap.

Pierce I put the cap on to reduce the sucking noise and prevent splash from coming out of the top...LOL. I had to make the top part of the T much higher (like yours) to stop the water from shooting out.....Anyway you look at it I messed up
. What I did now is took the top part of the T and plumbed it to 2x 90 degree elbows so it dumps back into the sump when the waste collector fills. I have everything running on spare pumps for now until my new pumps get here.

I have lots of green hair algae that grew when the sump/skimmer was offline but I am slowly getting it under control. Water parms are perfect and all SPS are coloring up. I did lose a few pieces in the process though :( I also added a convit tang that is chowing down on the algae. Anyway, here's a poor quality pic. I can't seem to get a clear shot with the halides on.

Rich,

Take the picture from a higher perspective (say 2 feet higer) - I find that works for me with my (cheap) digtal camera,

Also, looks nice - let me know if you need any additional frags - By the way, that frag that was hanging off my frag rack that I couldn't remeber the name of is a hyacinthias.

Rich, on my tank the chiller is a nessesity. The lights just produce too much heat. I had to get it up and running a month ago! because my water temperature was starting to get to 85oC and some SPS were starting to be affected. Once the chiller was up and running again (I remove it from the system in the winter), everything stabilized again.

Where are all those people keep on telling me a chiller is not needed with MH on RC? :D

Rich, I have a spare\back up chiller if you need to borrow one while looking for one to buy. I just need to find that two stage controller for it. ;) ;)

Post and ask if a chiller is needed for MH lit tank. :D :

I had a guy telling me a chiller is not needed with his twin 250W MH and he lives in SC, where the summer climate is very close to ours. At the end he finally said he uses central air 24 hours a day to keep his house at 72 deg and very low humidity, but a chiller is not needed for his MH set up at all.

Sometime people on the web tend to believe their own crap a little too much and pass out their bias opinions as the truth.
