Actually, once you set up all of the equipment, the maintenance will be easier than a normal sized 200 gallon tank. With 2000 gallons, your water parameters will be so stable. It would take a tremendous error to shift the chemistry.

You will probably have a small natural ecosystem were certain parameters would be self sustaining.

Invest on either a Bubble King Deluxe 650 rated for 1500+ gallons or an RDK defractionator. Either one will cost you like 10k.

Lighting, pickup like 10 Reeftech LED fixtures.

Reeftech LEDs crank 180w fully driven. You should see PAR levels that can sustain corals up to 36" deep.

Here's a badass BK 650. Skimmers just get nicer than this. If you ever realize this dream, let me know. I'm a dealer for Royal Exclusiv! ; )

Why in wall? With a size of this tank you will want to see as much as posible of that mini ocean not just the panel in wall. Have you been to Atlantis Marine Warld? They have 20000 gallon coral reef and I thing the only drawback to it is that you can't see it from other sides.

If I can give some advise. I am in the process of buying a new home and will be installing a "large" system as well. Even with the 3 years of experience with reefs and many more years of fowlr tanks I consider myself an advanced "Beginner" in this hobby. I am reaching out to some highly respected aqaurium builders and architects to lay the foundation for my build. The dynamics change drastically with aquariums of this size. I am not going to get into specifics on what I am doing just believe me when I say it will be done right. Pm me if you would like some very competant large tank builders and installers.

When you are dealing with an installation of this size, most of what you know doesn't apply and you need to consider things that wouldn't normally occur to you. As Thane, already said, you need to deal with someone who does exactly this for a living because this isn't a "lets get some beer and pizza and plumb next weekend" kind of job. Depending on the scope of a job like this, I can tell you from experience $50k might be a drop in the bucket. 2,000 gallons is a respectable tank size and for a commercial install it shouldn't be too big of a deal but once you put that in your house it's completely different. If you are serious about this than you really need to start planning this before the house is complete because it will be a lot easier to get it in place when you don't have to start ripping out what was just put in. If you want I can put you in contact with a friend of mine that installs huge tanks and 2,000 wouldn't even come close to his average tank build.
