no the $200 bill was from the whole tank but the heater is whats making that high. and the rest is just from going their and turning on the lights and stuff but still its very high for a fish tank. and no ones stealing the electricity. my dad is an electriction and wired up the whole house and owns the house next door to so theres no way anyone could be stealing it.

i have it turned up as high as possible hooked up to my reefkeeper which keeps it on because its not hitting the 71 mark but this nice guy ryangrieder is sending me some of his extra heaters he has laying around so that will definitely help. bring it to at least 75 maybe more.
turn the heater up past 71 degree's, 500w heater use's less then my 110w return pump, it's the amprage

Reeftech LEDs crank 180w fully driven. You should see PAR levels that can sustain corals up to 36" deep.

Here's a badass BK 650. Skimmers just get nicer than this. If you ever realize this dream, let me know. I'm a dealer for Royal Exclusiv! ; )

Isn't this skimmer a little overkill for the tank next to it??? :splitspin:splitspin

Anthony, assuming that you want to correct the problem, have you considered getting a second tank heater as a temporary solution?

This would barely put a dent in your electric bill, and it'd probably up the tank temperature by a degree or two. Can't hurt to have an extra heater around... in case the primary breaks or just for heating RO between water changes (that's what I use mine for).

Probably the best piece of advice in the whole thread.

Wow!! I just read this whole thread and I gotta say "GO FOR IT!!!!!!" Im always dreamin about doin a huge system. Unfortunately I cant even afford to keep up with my exsiting setup and that barely hits the 100 gal mark lol. If you need any help with this project, if you decide to do it, I'll help if I can! LOL Like some of the more helpful people on this thred said, Definitly check out some of the Pro that do the big tanks all the time. I would check with your parents current architect also, to see if a 2000 gal is even feasible where you want to put it. As for the filtration, I would try to setup a whole room for it, somewhere behind the tank if possible. Think of the possibilities of frag tanks and such. There is a guy in Amsterdamn that has a Huge system with a whole room of goodies. Im gonna try to find a link for you. Its sick!!!

if you have the finances, commitment and sense of how big an obligation this will be, i think that this could turn into something great. Don't do it just to have a huge tank, do it because you actually think it is something you can handle, because at that size it goes from hobby to exhibit/job. Good Luck with everything!

Yes, obviously this is something I need help with. I will get the aquarium services I need that maintain these types of aquariums.

imo, the reason i do reefing is because i find it to be a great hobby and very rewarding because the work you put in, usually is what you get out. If you get people to do your maintenance and set up won't that almost take the hobbyist feeling away from it.
2000g just seems overwhelming.
