Hi guys, this is a BIG plan that I have in mind. Its a 2000 Gallon Marine Tank. You might be thinking Im crazy, but I got a lot of space. I have a very big log home, and especially a Huge basement. I have very small plans of moving there, and it is still under construction, and I have this one open wall in my basement that I plan on doing the unthinkable...Putting a 2000 gallon tank in the wall. Now, this is only a PLAN, but I have high hopes on this one. As I said before, I have a huge basement, and I need some tips on how will I possibly put all of that filtration to work. Basically, my inspiration for this idea was when my family and I were in Rain Forest cafe in Orlando. They had a gigantic, beautiful, in wall saltwater tank with almost everything imaginable. I really wonder how do places like this, how and where do they keep all of that filtration?

your house or your parents house and you do realize that all in all if as a reef your talking around 50k without fish or corals, you must get a really nice allowance from your parents

money for him is not a problem lol he is so rich his parents get him anything he wants and his dads a scuba diver so thats a plus too towards a reef. and that house cost 5 million so 50k more isnt that much when your talking real big money.

MIGHT think!
:scratchch sounds like more of an idea/dream, than a plan!
If you have "very small plans of moving there" , who is going to take care of it?
Do you have basement access to bring in a big tank, or does it have to be built on site?

and that house cost 5 million
$5 Million!!!!!!!!!!...Tell them I have a bridge for sale

use like 20 400 watt metal halides or even more and do 200 gallon water changes per week to replenish the trace elements and stuff then do top offs with kalk mixed in to replace calcium
Im really shifting towards a FOWLR, because I have to be realistic with this...How will I possibly be able to maintain such a massive reef?

By very small, I would say that because we have a year and a half or so before everything is finished. My parents really would love to move there, but the thing is it would be difficult because most likely they would have to start their own businesses there.

Big Tank

Hi

Tropical Fish Hobbyist magazine is running an article about the building of a custom 250 gallon tank. It's a great article and has many ideas and "motivation" for a large tank. This month is the 3rd part of the article. It's a must read for a project like yours. Best of luck on your qwest.
