I agree - running this site, I'm sure takes up a good amount of finances. But if this site is free, then members should be allowed to post whatever they want (in the context of it being reef appropriate and carefully placed in the respective forum sub section).

There is nothing stopping people from posting things. The rules are extremely lenient compared to other sites. Since its a free site MR is also allowed to moderate it accordingly against various circumstances and rules that are in place to protect both the website and the people that enjoy it.

The MnGs offer a much more closeness. Now obviously for the enormous group that MR is, it would be almost impossible to have a more intimate reefer meeting, but all in all - I think the removal of the MnG threads only exacerbated an already dwindling consensus that MR is out for money, and not in the sense of maintaing this site. I think many feel this way because MR is perceiving the MnG as a financial threat.

Having the MnG threads deleted actually helped the MnG coordinators.

Also, I don't see why having MR make extra cash is a bad thing. ALL of that extra cash would go back into the site and into the swaps and events. More food and free coral for everyone :smash:

Even if the site made a bunch of $$ and it went to Josh I don't see why thats a bad thing. For the amount of work and time he puts into the site he should be charging everyone.

What about the docs build thread? It had nothing to do with the m&g's and it was taken down with the m&g thread? A little petty in my opinion....

Well as I DID read before, Josh stated that at times there is a NET LOSS.

I don't claim to be a psychologist - even though I am a psychology major, but its just common knowledge the majority of people are pretty darn greedy.

If running this site is truly making SOMEONE lose money, why not start charging to a small fee to keep the site running.

Valid points tosiek. I have no issues with Josh getting compensated for the time and effort he puts into it, along with any help he could give the vebdors from the extra bones

Josh made a thread asking for the MEMBERS HELP over the issue of MnG's.

Just using that as a base you can deduce that there must have been a bigger problem than just "The Wrath of the EVIL MR laying waste to the reefing community!"

The mods are asking for peoples opinions on the issue at hand.

There was no reason to take it down if you guys were for reefing. I went to referance it for myself and it was gone. It could have been edited of there was something wrong in it. No reason to take down the whole thread as it is a great referance tool. Just my .02 cents

I have nothing against the mods but I have never been apart of a forum where the mods take action without any explanation. It makes for power happy mods in my opinion, and Im not going after any particular mod here I have no idea who did what this was a generalized statement.

One of my last posts - WAS ASKING - For a clear answer - as to why these MnG threads were closed. What "unofficial"/unstated (but supposedly set in place) rules were broken? This makes no sense.... thats the reason for all the MR dismantling posts.

We want answers! Hahahahahahahahahha. :tongueani
