Looking good Andy. Must be nice to have water in it.

What's that pipe in the last picture, on the left going up and over the sump?

Craig, thats the future return from my existing tank, which is going to run off the same sump. Its currently blanked off as is the inflow line.

That skimmer isn't nearly big enough. It should be at least six feet tall for a tank that size. :P

Looking good, congrats on getting water in it. Im, crossin my fingers for you for no leaks with any plumbing
on that big of a system.

LOL, I have 2 minor leaks at the pump, nothing serious. Will fix that tomorrow. Other than that, I am ready for a short cycle and then a shipment of corals...... 8)

Stock it slowly.

I'd hate to see it turn in to a green hair and cyno farm.

There are commercial applications for both of those.....LOL

It will be stocked pretty fast by US standards, the rock has cured for the past 6 weeks already, so I will allow for some die-off- but it wont happen, and then get a shipment of corals from Indonesia- prolly within the next 3 weeks. The water volume and rock volume of the combined system is enormous (10 000 liters- 2200 GA and 750 kg, 1850lbs) Its all cured and the live sand is from my existing established system, life addition should be pretty quick now. I hope to have it all ready in a month- when I move in. (Hopefully)

Watch this space, this is an Elegance tank, and I have an uncontaminated source of them. Its going to euphillia and elegance city in about 3 weeks..... 8)

Just as an aside here, by no means aimed at Andy, however the talk of stocking reminded me at something when I was gazing at a 200k+ gallon aquarium the other day recalling hearing one of the helpers tell me there were something like 2300 fish and there soon could be 4000+ fish..

We as reef keepers try our best to emulate as much of the reef as possible, within budget, or within sanity levels. We try to blast our reefs with light, we try to make lots of water flow, make it as clean as possible etc. However one thing that occurred to me that we don't do, is we force nature into the reef setting in a reverse fashion. When a reef is destroyed typically the fish populations drop like a rock, however when a new reef grows back into place as it gets larger coral growths, the fish population tends to increase as well. Yet what do we do? We force the fish into the situation, then we put the corals in and wait for them to grow. I'm curious if that has any detrimental side effects. I mean I doubt anyone wants to experiment and run a fishless system for 5 years then introduce fish once the corals are established, but it is something to think about before stocking your fish with all the fish at once, then waiting for the corals to come later.

LOL, More delays.....

Was raiding early this morning, and swung past the site afterwards. The eurobracing (1 inch) at the top of the front pane has shattered in the middle as the glass has bowed out 1-2mm across the 3 meter length. A panic call to the suppliers reassured me that the front glass would tolerate a full inch of bowing over that length without cracking, but its new eurobracing today, and the cross bracing that was going to be left off is now a future feature.

We have pumped out 2000 liters of the water and are fitting the new bracing just now. Will take the opportunity to put the LR in as well. Refill it tomorrow. Pics then. (Sorry Tom)

SFSU, good point. I dont know enough to really comment, but will watch and see if anyone else chimes in.

Bad luck Andy! I know what it's like to beset by infuriating setbacks at the moment (house purchase).

I like what Mike's saying about coral first and then fish. I'm planning to do something similar for my next tank - live rock left in the tank for 2 months before adding coral, then another month or two before adding any fish. Not sure I could bear to wait 5 years though!

Yikes! Guess you better put that cross brace in! And make sure that euro brace is a bit thicker eh? :D

Don't worry about my comment like I said it was not aimed at you, it was simply some thoughts I was having earlier in the day while at the public aquarium (because the masses like fish not corals :D), all of us do it that way too mostly because deep inside... we like the fish too :D

If our business model were to impress the 0.1% of the population that is impressed by the latest LE chalice no one else would show up. :D

Cross bracing is in, euro bracing has been replaced, and reinforced. No LR in the tank yet, still dealing with some minor plumbing leaks atm. I promise to post pics when I have a leakproof, burst proof environment, the volume precludes that luxury until that is sorted....

I am really getting fed up with this whole alteration/ rebuild/ new tank story..... I have much better things to be spending my time on at the moment........ :(

(Just For Tom....)

The water cleared up . Some pics below of it cloudy, with rock invisible, and then some of it clear. There are some of the LR in the tricklebox and the sump as well. Sorry about the bad reflection.
