If you've actually done all the environmental work that you say you have....then I imagine you've been scr**ed by the "big guys" so many times that you are unable to wait to see it happen again. Hopefully someday some of the "big guys" will listen. I'm sure you left with this in mind (don't blame you a bit). The problem is if you are correct, the newbies to the hobby will no longer know what to do to help. They will be getting bad information. IMO with so many people envolved in this BB, someone w/always give good and someone w/always give bad info. You had built up a good reputation, now some of us may accidentally start learning info incorrectly and not realize it until it is to late. My 2 cents.

You made your point, though, and seem to be making an argument punctuated by the theatrics of your leaving. Although it is not the first time this has been done on this board, it is tasteless just the same. Maybe I should threaten to quit the board in a fit of righteous indignation about something or other and then count how many posts I can get in response.
As for the "issue", Mary has never hid her identity, profession nor her views. If she had, I would feel differently. Everyone knows she is an importer, and therefor she will be under more scrutiny than someone else would be.

I don't post on this board much, but I thought I would on this topic. What is up with all you people that have no respect for someone who has obviously spent a lot of time guiding, helping, and teaching people on this board?
Maybe this is a post about Dave from Dave for Dave.Even if that is the case I think we all have a lot to learn about this subject....I'm not going to quote Dr. Ron Shimek but he was recently at a reef meeting I attended and he said something like 500 thousand anemones or more were imported each year,now how many of those do you guys think surive.At that rate I can't see marine life being around much longer.
If people in this hobby,be wholesalers or your average hobbyist don't start think about conservation we will have nothing left to take.

while I understand daves motivation I believe his cause would be better served by remaining and continueing to post.
If he leaves the board because a moderator has been appointed whose opinions/practices he disagrees with noone will be here to present his side of the facts.
He will in fact be causing detriment to his cause by not being here to defend it.
I have never had a post edited for content by a moderator because he didnt agrre with my opinion.
A free exchange of ideas is necessary on both sides. If for example I wasnt here to respond to some of AOTS posts you would all be anarchists by now
A case in point if this board was not here to basically deter me from buying a mandarian because of newness of system/size of tank I probably would have caused an unnecessary death to our reefs

I only have to read some of the comments made to realize why I dislike humans so much sometimes. Dave has helped me(newbie) on many of topics and I hate to see him go. Please reconsider Dave. Battle the ignorance of some and realize that this board is a start for many(this was my first) and you do make a difference.

The way I see it, there are two kinds of people posting here:
1. The ones who support Dave's side and think he should remain to give opposing viewpoints in the Industry forum.
2. The ones who support the forum and are glad to have a chance to learn about the industry side of things.
Obviously, both of these kinds of people should have strong opinions about what's going on in the Industry forum. After 85+ posts here, why don't we "stop the insanity" and get talking about the real issues. Get your behinds over to the industry forum and start spouting your opinions over there- where they actually have a chance of doing some good.
