Well back from a great weekend at MACNA and time to get to work. So here we go.

Today we worked on the frame that would be hoisting the canopy up from the tank. This frame will be attached to the ceiling above the tank and use a pully system to raise the canopy roughly 3 feet off the top of the tank making maintanence a lot easier. I also decided(after painting it..:irked:) that I would run my HRV system in the frame work and sheet rock the whole frame making it look really clean. I love making more work for myself. LOL..

Here is the winch and the start of the pully assembly. All I can say is what a pain in the A--.

Well it finally worked and to my surprise quite well...:splitspin Originally it was on a sliding rail system but after almost smashing my frag tank with it swinging out of control that idea was scrapped...:irked:

Here is a video of the system...http://pictures.sprintpcs.com/share...BLEk8agL&shareName=MMS&messageState=RETRIEVED

I really like the multiple small surge tank idea. ALFIE IF YOU ARE READING THIS CHOP CHOP ON YOUR DESIGN.....lol
THANE, What do you mean IF, of course, I'm reading this thread, I need to steal some of your ideas, so you're more than welcome to some of mine! I've been working on the multiple surge idea...hopefully, I'll be able to divide up a 120g tank into four 30g chambers (so I'll need to 'borrow' your return manifold idea)....I suggest installing an electric garage door opener for your hood! a 10 ft hood, has to weigh a ton, the hood on my 8' 300g was so heavy, I put 200 lbs of counter-weights in the wall! BTW, it was a pleasure to meet you and your wife.

:tongueani......I like that idea if dividing your 120. I was thinking of putting a automatic Chandelier lift system. The one I am looking at can lift up to 300 lbs. My whole canopy when done should weigh in the neighborhood of 150 lbs. And the nice thing about it is that the action is very smooth up and down.....no jarring like a garage door opener. Alfie it was nice to meet you as well...talk to you soon.
