I didn't even open what you posted on here. I already know it derives from Weizzen beers or wheat ales whatever you wanna call them, but once you add everything to it including different HOPs, and Malts it know becomes a new beer or different beer. Known as a DUNKLEWEIZEN no longer a HEFEINWEIZEN. So yes it is its own beer.

Yeah... you can be completely ignorant and ignore the facts backing up what I'm saying...

Or you can try to learn something and admit that you're wrong.

You're backing up your argument by saying that "you already know"... really... are you kidding me?

A Dunkelweizen is its own style, however a dunkel (which is what you originally said) is not. A dunkel can also be a Munich Dunkel, which is a completely different style, but still a dunkel.

I second the Lagunitas IPA. It's my favorite of the style.

If you want something that 'everyone will drink' Landshark is fine. So is Coors/miller/bud lite. OR search out a creme ale, Blonde ale (Leffe), or even a wheat. Blue moon is good, even though it's made by coors. I have a keg of it I made and it's fine for hot summer days. I leave the orange out, but other people like it with. To each their own.

Some other choices you might get into:
Brooklyn Lager. Great on a fresh tap. If you're gonna let it sit for more than a couple of weeks, pass on this one.
Any of the belgains if you want to shell out the $$$$$$. Also, you'll need to jack up your serving pressure or the beer will go flat.

Captain Lawrence Xtra Gold is a great beer, and they're local.

If you can find a kolsch or a kolsch-ish they'll go great in a crowd as well.

I am a big fan of Heif served just shy of fridge cooled. if I can't get that, I'll do Hoegardden or the like. I sometimes like to eat (not drink) my beer :)

if I can't have that, I'll float a black and tan with Guinness and Bass.

When in colorado, I drink fat tire (going this weekend)

If I am feeling mexican, I'll do a Tecate or El Presidente with a shot of Sauza Commemorativo

AND, a certain local Brooklyn Brewers ciderbach had at a swap about a year and 1/2 ago that I am still waiting for (you know who you are :)

We'll I hate blue moon...lol no oranges in beer....what kinda man are u....

noone cares what you like you can have whatever you want at your house. Personaly I like it with the orange..I only drink blue moon on tap though..not in a bottle. How does an orange differ from let's say putting a lime in a corona? Either way it's just adding a nice splash of citrus.

My beer guy always has the Capt. Lawrence on tap so I'm sure I can try some of them.

Thanks all.

Maybe you should try some of the same once or twice:

German Beer Styles:
Dunkel (dark beers)

Dunkel means 'dark', so can be applied to any dark beer, but there are two distinct types and several sub-types, so it can be a confusing term. Dunkels can generally be divided into dark wheat beers and dark lagers.
All Lagers were dark until the 1840s, when breweries in Pilsen (in what is now the Czech republic) started brewing golden lagers. Dark lagers are brewed with a darker roasted malt than pale lagers and have a distinctive taste. Dark lagers gradually gave way to pale lagers from the 1890s throughout the 20th century, though many Bavarian breweries still include a Dunkel Lagerbier in their range.

I can no longer drink Heineken in a bottle, after trying it fresh from the tap while visiting Amsterdam, the bottle version just tastes like skimmate.

I was at the brewery in Holland in 6th grade on a family trip- wish I was old enough to drink when I was there everyone seemed to say the same that was from the US that it was so much better than bottled. BUT I was a young whippersnapper that has only had bottled- although I never liked Heneken always tasted dirty to me that one tawernbock<-lol whatever was awesome though
