yea, i run a 3400 stall but bc of the torque its actually abt 3600, and the way racers usually use their automatics it to convert the valvebody into a manual valvebody, so the shift isnt determined by the vac over pressure or bc computer input on newer models, when u shift it is when it shifts.. up or down doesnt matter(fully manual valvebodys) also the powerglide is the way to go on a big tire car bc you can run a 5000 stall, a 33in tire and fly down the track only having to pull the shift lever once.. and thats on 1/4 mi the dragsters use a slip/synk style clutch that works off inertia.. as it spins faster and faster it tightens up giving the feeling of a constant velocity trans on in nissans terms the cvv trans.. which is nothing more that a snow mobile transmission system that baically uses a large rubber band around 2 cylinders and as you change the diameter of the drive vs driven cylinder thats how the symulate a shift or to accelerate "without" shifting.. but those clutches need to be replaced and rebuilt after every run..

Yes it is true; many other cars need twice the amount of power to run those times but is this the beauty of awd. My car just hooks better on the street because at the track it is a bit to sticky and no play at all. To pull 1.5 60s on 500whp rwd car you need a solid rear end with huge slicks. Obviously, on the street its not going to hook anywhere close to that. And American cars handle like absolute garbage. My car is great all around, I can rip up on an autocross track and a drag strip. Also I have the luxury off all the Audi amenities since my car is full interior, leather seats, 6 disc Bose stereo, heat seats, power windows and doors. And like I said my car has OEM audi turbos and just a few bolt ons. If I put a built motor with gt28s, low 10s high 9s is possible.

actually with my mach1 which barely broke 450hp. and had a manual, i was doing 1.40 60ft times..and had a 26 in street tire.. and as for american cars not handling.. what do u think the basis of the trans am(the race) was abt? do some reasearch before goin on abt things..and also cars that drift.. do very well on the track and on road courses..
and as for the full interior and all that.. man i knew i was missing something.. i thought if you pull out all that serio wiring and the back seats i go faster? no? if i have cloth instead of leather is that ok? i have the luxury of a cupholder but u got me there..oh but it says special edition on the dash thats gotta be worth something at the track, dont u agree? and i do have a solid rear, irs is crap if you have real power.. but it works well when u stand the car up on it, halfshafts love to spit out, and also, this isnt for you, but for all the ricers that run antifreeze at the track....Y? it screws up the track when it spews all over, and also i dont get y guys with front wheel drive goes thru the wet box for a burnout and then runs the rear tires thru it and then draggs all that water out into the first 100ft of the track, causing everyone to spin, slip or wreck!!! anyone? anyone? buler?buler?:funnypost

one of the most over looked cars for road racing was the porsche 944, it had the best weight distrubution of any car from factory, and if you watch the gtra you see alot of stangs, bmw porsche ect, but how many awd cars ya see

I agree for road racing rwd is probably the best. I would love to have a porsche for road racing like a gt3 rs or something, they just handling like a dream. Im sure it did fine at the track, but to me I like to hook on the street. I have seen it all too often on the street. I have raced so many rwd cars that had much more power than me, ls1 camaros, svt cobras, corvettes, ctsv, e55 amgs. You name it. Heads up its a joke, not even close most of the time. Usually they want me to give them a spot. But thats just the way it goes most of the time on the street. At the track, rwd is probably the best bet since you dont have to worry about breaking **** all the time.
Im unsure of what questions I have not awnsered yet. They only american car that seems to handle decently is the c5/c6 corvettes. Since they are not very heavy and have indenpent rear supension it seems to help. I would much rather have a porsche or e30 bmw or something for road racing and autocrossing.

gt500 handles pretty good, the salen is a road racing car, suspension is the main difference in those 2, the cadilac cts v badge handles decent and had 400 hp i do believe, had the vette motor, and stage i will say this, same as i tell the kids at work, alot of people think they know how to drive or race, but really dont, having a faster car doesnt mean you will be faster if you dont know how to handle it, the difference between having big balls and small balls is knowing how to use the small ball more efficiently, { not saying you dont know how to drive } tested one of the kids cars at work and ran 1/2 second faster then he could or did, knowing proper shift points of max hp, then shifting on down slope of hp at a higher rpm.

lol motor i thought at first glance is was the old 2.3 pinto motor, not that it is bad because with running dual webers and some work those little motors had some nice output, what is that a 84 ?

these questions....

oh i read that one wrong, haha my bad.. but ive seen alot of cars have power out of their safety range.. man ive done it many times.. but eventually onve u surpass the 1.5:1 raito of hp/ cubic inch ( ur an engineer so u can convert it to liters) you get into the realm of the iffy range where it wasnt meant to be, yes itll work, but who knows for how long, btw what kinda blow off valve to u use for the turbos, and whats ur psi.. what size down pipe are u useing to eliminate turbo lag?? are u using a stand alone timer system, or u just set the boost and leave it? do u run different boost on the street than at the track bc if ur running race gas u can up the boost by 3-5 psi and if you retard the timing 2-4 deg you can go up some more....

oh ha I must have glanced over that post by mistake. As far as boost goes, on race gas I usually just turn up the boost controller to the max. Usually it peaks it 27-28psi and tapers down to about 18-20 by redline. My freind usually tunes my car so he just gives me the race file when I go to the track which has more timing up top for race gas. These turbos are tiny and are not really meant to be run higher than that. I also have 2 3 inch downpipes not cats or resonators. Pump gas I usually run about 21-22 psi peak which is fine for the street. I got full boost by 3500 rpm usually, there really isnt much lag. The ko4s are sized perfect for the 2.7. I run the stock motronics ecu which is perfect since you can reflash it with any tune you want. I also use 2 bypass valves from the audi tt which are so much better than the stock ones which leak and dont hold boost. (i think they use it on a porsche to but im not sure on that).

these questions....

Also that ratio really does not apply to imports at all. I mean look at the gt3 rs which is a 3.8liter 6 cylinder pushing out 425 hp. Using your ratio that you only allow for 348hp. I guess its just a guidline really, but then again there are 2.3liter evos pushing out 600-700whp. and 2.3 liter=210hp? Really doesnt add up to me.

i agree but i also disagree. a nice v8 muscle sounds great and all but thats just a personal opinion because you may love the raw sound from a v8, and so do i, but i personally would rather hear the sound of a AMS intake slowly build then a AMS GT850R Turbo pick up and wind up under a evo hood and release out a hks bov. that to me makes chills more then a v8. dont get me wrong, who doesnt love a nice v8, but everyone is different and i absolutely love my simple 2.0 motor (the size of a f'in 1 gallon milk container) that can fly by any stang or import or ect...
lol same here!!
