:tired: They are not role models, they are all overpaid baby's playing a kids game. Realize that and tell kids to have real role models that are real people who are good at heart and in mind and do good things for others without a need for compensation. Teach kids to idolize those types of people and not celebs and sports stars. Teach them to respect authority and others property and persons and they will be better off.
what I hate about this whole issue is that the media makes it seem like the steroids are hitting the ball for these players. I dont condone the use of steroids by anyone because they are illegal. not because i think it gives that much of a competitive advantage. it doesn't.
remember when we were going through growth spurts in those middle/high school days... remember how much it threw off your coordination. to take it a step further, if anyone played ball at any level above sandlot leagues, you know that you were never encouraged to lift weights during the season. why?? because it throws off your coordination. these athletes who can overcome the massive swings in coordination and reaction time that come about by enhanced growth are still able to hit the ball.
Im not saying they deserve medals for taking steroids, but even after all that they do to the body, these athletes can still hit 100mph fastballs and react to 12-6 curves. that comes not from steroids, but from god given talent and 1000s of hours of training, and i dont think its fair to write them off so quickly.
they probably also did amphetamines which gives you a tremendous advantage on just hitting the ball
