i agree...this country is soo messed up where we care soo much about sports and those are the highest paid indivduals in the country. just take a step back and look at the situation....this is the most covered story in all the us outside of perhaps the daily nonsense in the economy...

The baseball fan in me doesnt think its a big deal and respect his talents. I also am tired of all the haters out there. Everybody that hates on his contract or him trying to be perfect are all haters and needs to give the guy a break. I give him a lot of credit for fessing up the way he did.

arod did not fess up.he knew he was guilty 3 years ago.he only spoke out cause he was busted.and he backlapped everything he said.and he lied to national tv when he told katie couric he never did steroids.then in his interview he said he wasnt sure he had a bad test.WHAT.first of all as soon as something like that is said you know he called his agent.2nd the agent gad to have called the union to see if it was dirty only because he needs to know if his multimillion dollar boy doesnt lose his contract so that he would get paid.so when u hear him say the union said it might be or might not be positive its a lie.

Duke I was not aiming my comment at you. I've met you and your son and know you are good people.
I was more aiming it at the media that throws him being a role model at us 100 times a day.

see talking on this computer i notice every type of comment that is opposite of someone else seems nasty..i wish there was a way to communicate on threads that makes it more like 2 people just chatting.but yes baseball players in some kids minds are considered role models.believe it or not there are kids in this world that do not have a male role model or a female role model and public figures make up this role..its just natural..they have very little in this world and sitting watching a game and seeing how cool and calm they are after winning the big game and how great there lives are gets kids thinking this is what they want to be..we as adults know the difference.

who cares, I mean honestly, the fact that this was the front cover of most newspapers today is absurd. If you are truly upset/devastated about this you need to rethink your priorities. If it is still a surprise when a professional athlete comes up positive for "performance enhancers" you have lived a sheltered life. These guys aren't role models just because everyone else says they are. There's no "Role Model Clause" in their contracts that says they have to act according to the expectations of the public. The only difference between A Rod and your neighbor is that A Rod can hit a baseball a lot farther on a regular basis, you wouldn't consider your neighbor a role model if tomorrow he woke up and could nail a ball 3 blocks, so why put the professionals on a pedestal?

Also, steroids aren't bad. Under the proper circumstances doctors can use them to save a life or treat an illness etc. There are probably plenty of people on this board that have at one point taken a form of steroid for one reason or another, prescribed by a doctor. The abuse of the substance by individuals seeking a competitive edge over others is where it veers from being ok into the land of questionable practices.

Just a rant, not directed at anyone. Just putting it out there.

I dunno personally i have to give him a pass on this. This is akin to confessing that you're cheating on your wife. Would you really ever in your right mind confess to something that could potentially end your career unless they had some sort of evidence against you? It's actually been studied that the vast majority of people will not confess to something unless they have solid evidence that says otherwise. Even then there are people that try to fight and deny it when they get caught red handed (Bonds, Clemens, etc).

This was really a test that was performed when there weren't any MLB penalties for steroid abuse, and don't forget there are another 103 players on that "anonymous" test.

I feel if he's not testing positive now, then we should just chalk it up to him being young and stupid.

I think, Why are we wasting valuable time and energy on this complete idiot and not focusing on other things that are more important than an overpaid baby playing a kids game juicing up. Lets focus on the real issues not the smoke and mirrors distractions of MLB Roids. :scratchch Funny..................

:tired: They are not role models, they are all overpaid baby's playing a kids game. Realize that and tell kids to have real role models that are real people who are good at heart and in mind and do good things for others without a need for compensation. Teach kids to idolize those types of people and not celebs and sports stars. Teach them to respect authority and others property and persons and they will be better off.
