The Mets and Yankees ended the season in the same fashion, with the same record. But the Yankees finished the season strong. The Mets.................not so much.

It's not like some of the Yanks key players are homegrown either. Everyone trades for better pieces to their team. The Mets may have a weaker farm system, but the Yanks farm system is not that much more robust.

I'm not saying the entire Yankees team is homegrown, but they have more homegrown key players than the Mets. Jeter, Rivera, Cano, Posada, Chamberlain, Wang (yes, he worked his way through the Yankees farm system)

Everyone says the Yankees try to buy championships. Every other team that contends on a yearly basis does they same thing, they just haven't been as successfuly as the Yankees have with the players they bought.

Mets have a strong farm system, guys like Fernando Martinez, Jon Niese, Eddie Kunz, Nick Evans, Daniel Murphy, Mike Carp and Bobby Parnell. Let's just hope they live up to the hype and they don't get traded, like they did with Gomez and Humber.

You are comparing 1 year. Do you honestly believe Kennedy, Hughes and Chamberlain will be as big failures as Pulsipher (career record 13 - 19 over 10 year career) and Wilson (40 - 58 over 10 years.) I am giving Isringhausen the benefit of the doubt because he was a solid closer for 5 years, but he didn't live up to the hype either.

You can't compare Hughes and Kennedy until they've been around 10 years. Barring injuries, I'm guessing both of them will be good enough to have at least a .500 winning percentage unlike Pulsipher and Wilson. Chamberlain had a pretty good year in my opinion.

:sigh: Does the despair for Met fans run so deep that they have to look at players who never pitched an inning for them at the major league level?! He didn't even get to Triple A before they traded him.

The Yankees probably could field an all-star team of traded prospects, including Cristian Guzm?n, Mike Lowell, Jake Westbrook and Eric Milton.
