I have a friend on RC from NO, his screen name is NOLACLS. His business is supplying and repairing the oil rigs in the gulf coast. He lost his warehouse and possibly his house (has not been back yet) but he's working from a hotel with his laptop to try and get supplies asap. he said it's going to be a while before the rigs are back up and running, but he's working as hard as he can on it.
It will be interesting to see once the rigs are working again exactly how much the prices go down. If the companies use this as an excuse to keep gas at 3.00 I hope people start protesting. I wonder how the sales of suv's are doing?

Well, I don't think this is the issue - I know that the GUlf refineries supply 20-25% of the US's oil, but that's what strategic reserves are for - emergency, and I would categorize this as an emergency. It will be interesting to see what does happen as people are beginning to curtail their habit of use (GO JENNIE) and gas demand will drop dramatically.

Economists will show (Albert, drop in here), however, that US gas prices have been artificallly low for years now and should have moved up a long time ago. So, we have bene playing the cheating game for a long time. That's why when the prices went up over a months time, the market barely moved.

Let's see what happens after all the flying back and forth, airplanes, helicopters, busses, etc and that will add to the fire.

Jim, you are correct. I know i will get killed for saying this, but the price of gas SHOULD stay high. I know we all hate it and it comes as a shock, but the truth is that we consume/waste too much energy in this countryl, mainly because it has been so cheap. how many ppl drive gas guzzling UVs for no reason?

protesting never going to happen ,if pl need it they will pay any price for it ,,if you protest and dont get gas ,most of us cant work then ,,
if portested what would that do for me ,aside lossing work and not filling gas,
personaly i think prices will stay they same do to the fact ,the oil company have to fix there rigs it will just be on our cost not theres ,

why have they been artificially low? what drives/sets the price of oil?
