trips sorry to here about your wife, but if she had been attacked by a group of poodle's would you want to wipe them out also ? ive had pit's since i was 14 yr's old and never had one turn on me or bite anyone. including my niece and nephew that use to try and ride them. or my cat that slept in the dog bed with my American Staffordshire terrier. i had a staff that was proffesionally trained which i was told couldn't be done and the trainer didn't want to do { given their history } but it was trained for basic, advanced and personal and home protection on voice comand. i will say this, it is not the dog you want to attack you out of all breed's cause of the lock jaw and their jaw pressure, but if you look up what are the top 10 dog's reported for dog bite's a pit isn't in there. all them ankle biter's are. to me doberman's are the worst dog's. sneaky little sh%t's. dog's that are mis-treated are more than likely gonna turn or flip on you

On another note no dog in this world has lockjaw unless its from another planet. There is no such thing as lockjaw. That surprises me as you own a staffy and you didnt know that. Lol are you sure your dog is trained.

And i read that article about the baby. Thats just loco. i just cant believe a grown dog could penetrate a babys rectum.there is no way i dont care what anyone says. How the hell did it just drop a baby of a table onto the floor without killing the baby.i know this is nasty but grown people have a hard time doin that. Thats just crazy the baby would have died.

Hey Trip, I hope one day you find peace in your heart to know that unfortunately, that day, pits attacked your wife and dog. I also hope you dont hold every other dog guilty of that offense, pit or not. Also be careful some of the owners are ten times worse than the dogs, so when you call the devil, HE SHOWS UP!

I agree that the dog couldn't done it and the owners are using him as a cover up but please guys you cannot compare a pit to an ankle biter. Like tripstank said an ankle biter can draw blood but a pit (just like any other big and aggressive dogs) can definately kill a person.

I have to say that it is a great tragedy that this breed has fallen into such irresponsible hands as late.
And while it is true that there are countless stories as yours, please I beg you do not generalize all pities as being vicious dangerous animals.
The simple truth is that they are not all the same as we humans are not all the same. Take for instance my three pits, the oldest of the three is a red nose male mix. He, as well as the oldest of my females a white & brindle are the gentless dogs you'd ever want to meet. Where as the youngest of the females a blue nose is in my opinion a weirdo. She has never bitten any one, or even come close to doing so. Since we are responsible citizens we do not allow our dogs to roam free, and hence avoid any situations where this could possibly happen. The only way any of my dogs would ever bite someone would be if that individual traspassed onto my locked property. And then I would believe that even you would agree that said individual would deserve to get bit.
Would you adhere to racism, bigotry, antisemite believes? I don't believe you would. So then, why go after an innocent dog just because of its heritage?
By the way, how many dogs attacked your poor wife? Are you sure they were all pits? How did it happened? I am Not inferring that your dog caused the attack, and had the owner of the dogs been a responsible dog owner it would not have happened. I am just curious.
As old as I am. And as many dogs as I've owned through out my years I've had many small dogs try to pick fights with my dogs as I walk them on their leach. I even had a little old lady pick up her cane to beat one of my dogs as I was walking them down the street in the Village when I lived in Manhattan more then 23 years ago. Believe me these were unprovoked attacks. Yet my dogs were controlled. I've always had more then one dog at a time, and always walked them together.
If you were attacked would you not defend yourself?

Its so funny how so many people are here taking trash about pits and others like that. I could do the same when I was jumped when I was a kid by 5 black kids. But i would never say to wipe them out from this earth that is just cruel and racist. JP you should be more afraid for your venous fish that you have then a pitbull on the street. Nature is a funny thing , yet we as humans try to understand it. Animals are anamial. THey all have their own personality OR thier owners personality. Its all what they are thought in captivity and the wild. ALL ANIMAL ATTACK ,that is their defence. SOme are trained to attack on command some are train to fight. Some you just can understand.

Now serioulys guys , How would anyone of us feel if our family member got attacked by a pit as trips wife did, WE all dont know how he feels what he experienced or what damage this dog as done. (im talking emotional damage) that attack on his wife could of left her worse and i thnk G-D that he save her from that attack. I dont think anyone of us would feel good either.

Pits are dangerous only cause they can do so much damage without the owner being able to controll once its start attacking . other wise they are fine. I do walk around pits and other dogs for ne reason ,IM SMART. I know what that dog can do if he/she wanted. I also have no CLUE what the dog is thinking. Maybe i look kosher enuff to eat ,maybe the dog just doesnt like they way i look ,maybe the dog doesnt like the way i smell. I dont know ,but i wont take a chance either. It take few second for me to walk around the dog. This ofcourse is a strangers dog that i walk around.

Now i have hung out with Reegergonemad and his pit. Yes his pit looks scary. that is because he is 0% fat and looks like a world class body builder. Most pits do. Which scares ppl including myself. His pit was cool and trained well.

I have a parrot as most ppl know , and i think he(sonny) as bit everyone atht came over here. I take sonny out with me all the time ,Cant say howmany ppl have walked around me afriad of sonny. I look at them and ask whats worng ,they say we are afraid of the parrot. Go figure , Has anyone ever been attack by a bird out side , But theya re afraid of him and i respect that,. so i hold sonny so they feel more comfortable to walk around me ,althou i know sonny wont do anything.


Now let me trun this around a bit , If a HUMAN hit a dog , THAT one Human will be introuble everytime the dog see him. but that one dog may or may not feel anger towards all humans. But there are animals that are fearing for thier life when they see humans. you can try to change it .likely you cant. same gos for trips case.


Only thing trip i can say , wiping out all pits wont help the issue. And i dont know you so i cant say that wiping them out will make you feel better or worse. But i see you like anamials and i dont think that would be the answer. if it was then we would only have small dogs left. Your peace is as far as you look for it. as long as you want to wipe out the entire pit population you wont be at rest. I think you are more then lucky .., Your wife and dog still love you and you love them

I love all animals and i wouldnt want to see anyone get hurt or hurt them. Buti do think dogs that attack in taht manner need to put to sleep so they wont attack again.

I am sure ankle biters may bite "more often", however, not with the same intensity. As in, a ankle biter may draw blood, but not half my wife's head.

I am sure I can take a 10lb poodle, but not a 80+lb pit.

You all can have your neurologically f++ked up dogs, but I will tell you one thing, should one come near my family again, the dog and the owner will suffer the same pain my wife and dog did.

Some breeds just are not suitable for housepets. These dogs only exist because people wanted to breed the perfect killing machine. It will always be in their genes. It doesn't help that breeders of Pitt's don't always selectively breed for good demeanor, they breed for strength and size. I almost bought an American Staffordshire a few years ago, when i went to the breeder's house to look at the Pups, the father "from a champion bloodline" wouldn't let me near the house. I instantly changed my mind because I like to have visitors every once in a while. Great junkyard dog, but not a dog i would leave at home with the kids.

I bet Sigfried and Roy thought Tigers can be raised to be nice to humans up until recently.
