Went out tonight in Cutchogue....no bass, but bunker everywhere....and I mean everywhere...from the mouth of the inlet (to peconic bay), all along the channel, and into the creeks in the marsh. I snagged a lot, only brought in 4...in the freezer waiting for the fall bluefish on the Sound. Also grabbed a handful of Ulva for my yellow tang. I'll take a few casts tomorrow....maybe I'll get some bass then...also grab some more mudsnails. Take care, Eric

The biggest flounder I ever caught was 22", when I was 10 years old. Someone else beat me that day and won the raffle prize. If I remember correctly, that guy caught a 24" one.

I'm not familiar with the Stony Brook area, but great Sound fishing spots are found east of it....I hear that Roanoke landing is good in Riverhead (no esperience though...), Matituck Inlet can be great, the advantage is that the inlet gives good access to fishing even if the wind is bad...Duckpond Point, Cutchogue is a classic striper and porgy spot. Further east, there's Goldsmith inlet (too shallow for me), Kenney's beach, and my favorite, McCabe's beach- deep water is a simple cast away. Then there's Horton's Point. Trumans Beach, and eventually Orient. During July, bay beaches can be more productive than Sound. Meanwhile, went out this morning, only to have my top guide break off....no fish anyway. Did collect lots of Ulva, Enteromorpha (for my tang) and mud snails. No hermits...the water is still too cold. Take care, Eric

During the summer I'll be going out to Cutchgue regularly....I can bring back lots of Ulva, possibly Gracillaria.....certainly mud snails. If I can get to the Sound I can get bright red gracillaria...the stuff in the bay is brownish in color...doesn't matter, the fish like it just as much. Take care, Eric
Oh- the new minimum size on fluke is 19.5"......guess I won't be eating any this summer....

Thank you. Also let me know if you need a body to split the expenses on running your boat.:)
