You do realize the water they use is from a company already cycled and ready to go right? It's not like they mix salt at the customers house. They bring The water. Kind of like nutri sea water...
if it already cycled water than why in the 2nd episode the water was 90 degrees and they were using a hose from the casino to put it in and then they throw ice cubes in the tank WTF thats ick ready to happen
Its odd that they seem to try to impart a little knowledge ..like you can only have one of this fish. or the rays will eat smaller fish.
then they throw 300 fish in a tank that hasn't even cycled and woohooo~~
so many people are gonna see that and think.. oh i can do that ... 10 yellow tangs,,, or put metal in the tank..
Its funny and the tanks are sick.. I cant wait to see the next episode. It would be better though if they gave it to people straight about what it really takes to provide good husbandry for these animals.
Well, yes there is such thing as cycled water. My bio cube was Nutri sea water pre cycled and I had coral in that day.
And as for big fish in a small tank... Well, I have never heard of their customers complaining about dead fish or anything, I wish I could find current customers side on how their tanks are doing. It would be interesting if they really do have magic trick, or most of the fish die after a day or so...
"Cycled" water wouldn't do anything even if it was used (Not even really sure what cycled water would be, water from an established tank?). A very large majority of the bacteria/microbes that cycle a tank are mostly found in the rock/substrate. Substrate could be sand or filter media (ie. bio balls).
