So I've been watchin this show Tanked on Animal Planet which I'm sure a lot of you are already aware of I'm a fan of the show even though they haven't done any reef tanks yet all I see are fake corals and lots of fish in some cool lookin tanks. Wanted to know what you guys thought of the show and is it me or does the 1 guy with hair remind you of Doug from King of Queens? LoL

Hahaha did you see my thread? I tried to ask the same thing and we all talked about it and of course it got out of hand! Peoples opinions got the thread closed, even though I asked to keep it peaceful. Typical drama

i have seen it it think its some nice tanks but i would too love to see some actual reef tanks instead of those fake coral things they make. but i still love when they make his wife go into the shark tank i think that's means for a divorce lol.

I took this out of my thread and this is how I feel about it...
You have to remember, the show is not a "history" or "scientific" or "experimental" or "informative" or anything in that nature. If you want to watch a show on salt water with real facts or fictional information, watch a documentary film or a earth film or something in that nature at discovery channel hosts like the hit "earth". The show is a reality based show with little informative facts and more comedy based to entertain viewers and showing their day to day job. No one is going to say "hey I want to get a salt water tank, maybe ill watch that new show tanked and learn about the hobby and get a tank started" come on... that's like me saying "hmm I think for fun I want to get a old classic car to mess around with on weekends, maybe I'll watch Barrett Jackson to get ideas on how much I need to save up and what car I want". The show is for family entertainment, and you know what, it works. That's what all these new shows are about and all of them are hits. That's why there is more and more every month. They are all Real life based jobs being filmed. Pawn stores,American pickers,American restorers, cake boss, cupcake wars, sand castle builders, car restore companies, home make overs, hell even the big dealership down the road from me, Franklin Sussex auto mall, bilbo913 on MR works there as a parts guy, the dealership right now is filming a new tv show called "car boss" showing the life of a major car sale men and the drama of it. it's all for entertainment purposes, NOT FACTUAL information. It's comedy based. And all these shows are HUGE hits. Personally, I love all of them. It's very interesting, has it's funny parts, and sometimes educational. Like it or not, I guarantee the show is going to be a hit. And FYI, they are still today filming new episodes for next season and anyone can be on it if you want a crazy tank built. My vote is in. I'm a fan. It's a great show to sit down and watch with the girl...
If you don't like it, well there is hundreds of other channels to watch. Personally, I'll be watching tanked that time of week because I like the job style reality shows...

I really don't think they will do actual reef tanks. Because if they do, that will require more personal attention to the customers tanks, and will require the owners to get general knowledge about the hobby. The people getting theses tanks are not like us. They are not sitting on a website reading and giving advice on fish tanks, or reading books about the hobby, or visiting LFS and asking questions. They have the money and want something fascinating in their home, but not require labor of their own. Saltwater fish tank was their answer and ATM does their services. They customize and make their own fake coral, and think they are going to stay with it. I mean, they really don't know a whole lot either. They went to the distributor and did not know even some of the most basic of fish names...

I wont front..its a great show....but all it really is basically..its about building custom tanks..very creative..and it shows how well they can work with acrylic..also, the hosts have a great imagination to come up with the ideas and scenarios when they are given a certain theme...i gotta give them some props..funny thing is...they all from NY !!!!!!! hahahahaha !!!!!!!

Its odd that they seem to try to impart a little knowledge ..like you can only have one of this fish. or the rays will eat smaller fish.
then they throw 300 fish in a tank that hasn't even cycled and woohooo~~
so many people are gonna see that and think.. oh i can do that ... 10 yellow tangs,,, or put metal in the tank..
Its funny and the tanks are sick.. I cant wait to see the next episode. It would be better though if they gave it to people straight about what it really takes to provide good husbandry for these animals.

You do realize the water they use is from a company already cycled and ready to go right? It's not like they mix salt at the customers house. They bring The water. Kind of like nutri sea water...
