I had a Mag-12 that ran great for over 6 years, then I went on vacation for a week, came back and half my tank was dead. The only thing I could find wrong was my Mag-12 was all rusted to crap.

I tried one a couple of years ago. Ive got a 120 with about 180 lbs live rock, 30 gallon refugium with pods everywhere. It lasted less than a year and Ill never try again.

I have a Kole and a Hippo together and they get along fine, but they are in a 120. As far as the Kole being a help with nuisance algae- maybe mines just lazy. Ill see him nibble on the rocks as if hes eating, but he hasnt put a dent in any of the hair algae. Never seen him pick at feather...

Thanks for the responses. Its a new glass tank,not tempered. I want to get it drilled and have an overflow box installed. The LFS wants $150 to drill,install overflow, bulkheads, etc. I thought this was kinda high but it might be worth it after all. If I drilled it myself I might muck it all up...

How much should I expect to pay for one drilled overflow with all the plumbing?? Or should I just use a HOB overflow??

I just got a new membrane for my RO/DI unit. I seem to remember that these need to be flushed before you can use the water. Any one know how much/how long this needs to be?

Ive never seen the eggs, but at night after the lights are off, all the really small ones are all over the glass. In the morning when the lights are on Ive never seen them.

A new bottle of DT'S ended up in the freezer(don't ask). It was not frozen solid but it did have a big hunk of ice in it. Is it any good? Is it any bad?
