I got those fairly often as well, but major snail bloom was never witnessed. Most likely all have became coral food.

The egg will stay on the glass for about 3 days and gradually washed away (hatch?).

One of the Cerith snails went up on the glass and laid a zig zag line of eggs. Are these viable? I only have tangs and an extensive cleanup crew in my 200 gallon tank and the tangs don't seem interested in the eggs.
Thanks,
Mark

I have never witnessed a "hatch' but I do notice that off all the snail varietys I have had the Cerith is the only one that doesn't eventually dwindle off in my 240 gallon tank - I often wondered if these snails actually are hatching and I just don't see it happen - as stated earlier they seem to just wash away but it does seem curious that the Cerith maintain a population without being replenished.....

Ive never seen the eggs, but at night after the lights are off, all the really small ones are all over the glass. In the morning when the lights are on Ive never seen them.

the Cerith eggs I am talking about are white and laid in a zig zag pattern about 5-6 inches long on the glass. They stay in place for less than a week and then they are just "gone". I have seen the strand start to pull away from the glass but never witnssed any hatch - just curious that the Cerith population never needs to be replenished while other snails do......
