  1. hawaii law for coral and liverocks?

Fish here are super cheap. Morish idols in good health, never shipped are only like $15 USD, Anthias $8, Flame Angels $15 ect. For the collectors out there, I usually see Hawaii Dragon's for a steady $600 twice a month.
  2. Stocking 175 gallon fish tank.

I wouldn't worry about the yellow tangs. Provided that they were small and all introduced at the same time you should be fine. Personally I'm with Chris. I would have added 4 tangs of different species, like yellow, convict, achilles, clown
  3. My 72 Gallon

I like it. You had a better start than most people equipment wise. I wish you lots of luck in the future.
  4. Preserving the salt level

One thing to remember is this. Water evaporates but salt doesn't. If you have evaporation then the remaining water will have a higher PH than it did before, because not everything turns to vapor. If your salt is too high you have to add water or remove salt. If too low you have to remove...
  5. Copperband butterfly and corals?

I had one for about 4 months just to eat my aiptasia. he did a good job and didn't touch any corals.
  6. pros and cons of getting wild live rock and sand

The biggest problem with collecting things from the wild is the fact that once you do, you can only get things from the wild. Fish and corals that have gone through the collection process have mostly been rid of paracites and pollutants. I guess you could make an initial collection from the...
  7. Bare Bottom

Heres what you do. Go buy some 1" + pvp pipe, cut desired heigth and place under your live rock. It will provide movement all the way around your rock structures and keep your live rock from sitting on the glass.
  8. Attatching Mushrooms

I'm much more sloppy than X so I dont use the glue. Instead I have used a rubberband. Also a good way to force a mushroom to split into 2 if you wanted. I found out by accident ofcourse =-) I prefer to put the mushrooms or polyps in a seperate holding tank, refug, or sump. anyway where the...
  9. Are sally light foots harmful to other critters ?

I agree with X. I had 5 in my tank for awhile and had 2 clowns mysteriously disappear. One crab was caught with the clown in his clutches, bad deal but awesome picture.
  10. Your first marine fish

    Flame Angel
  11. Tank is still cloudy.....

What kind of substrate? Do you have fish or any inhabitants? Pumps? Where are they pointed?
  12. quick question...

How big is the tank? The more water you have the smaller the spike especially with cured rock, where there isn't a large die off. If you want to add something I would start with non-aggressive non-territorial fish until you know how your water is going to react. Fish are less sensitive to...
  13. hawaii law for coral and liverocks?

I live on Hickam and I see zoo's all the time in the sand of the lagoon if you wanted some. They're a metallic green/blue coloration.
  14. hawaii law for coral and liverocks?

Heres a link for some questions you might have for different regulations, but I'll have to wait to post the official site I had used because I cant access the forum from work. http://hawaiideptland.custhelp.com/cgi- ... age_foot=1
  15. hawaii law for coral and liverocks?

Well it depends what kind of sand you want. Personally I absolutely hate sugar sand because that stuff gets everywhere! I like the medium grain sand with a heavier weight so it doesn't stir so easily. I dont use it for a DSB, just for a natural look and for inhabitants. Just take a small...
