Hello.

Few questions and needed confirmations on things I have read.

Salinity is currently at 1.024.

I have a tiny bit more water than I feel is necessary. So with that said should I just wait until some water evaporates to see where the salinity ends up or do you think it would take too much evaporation to end up to say 1.026.

I have a 46gallon display with a 20 gallon sump (about 5 gallons full)

THanks

If the heater is on, and the water is warm, I would just wait until it hits the salinity I want.

Or if you are in a hurry, you could add some salt?

The heaters are on and the temperature has already stabilized to 78.1F. It was at 80 yesterday but I turned the heaters down a bit and now its perfect.

Perhaps it was the fact I have two heaters but I was surprised to the the tanks heat up that fast - it only took a handful of hours - I've read it could take days; I have two 'stealth' 250w heaters.

Anyways, I am not in a hurry in the least, I do not want to end up costing time and money because I want to do something quick. I will take your suggestion and let time take its course. Thanks!

You would be surprised on how quick a tank can heat, esp in the summer when your AC is off!

One thing to remember is this. Water evaporates but salt doesn't. If you have evaporation then the remaining water will have a higher PH than it did before, because not everything turns to vapor.

If your salt is too high you have to add water or remove salt. If too low you have to remove water or add salt.

Really? Having water evaporate increases pH? I would think it would just be like removing just the original ro water and leaving the salt mix.

I did now know that about the pH; salt yes but not the pH.
I have noticed the past few days that the salinity has only rose .0005 with about a .3 gallon water evaporation. IDK, I guess I expected a greater fluctuation, I am pleased to see this though; eases the future stress on me.
