Waiting for the money shot......

late this afternoon I'll get one up if the skimmers working.

Jesse, glad you had good meeting, I hear you about driving, it's not easy when you don't know the area, our roads are not always marked the way they should be.

I was able to fit the skimmer on the drain side of the sump. I made a box out of eggcrate and zipties to raise it so the skimmer drain is a couple of inches over the water level.

If you happen to have any metric fittings you can spare can you throw them in the box? I'm not sure where to find them.

I'd like to see the sump, post the shots when you get a chance :) :starfish:

Jhale,
That is good news on the placement. I will be ordering metric tubing and I have t's in my container. What fittings are you looking for? I will get some pics of the sump. On the Elos USA forum at RC I have a thread called "pictures" with a shot or two of the skimmer and sump together. A local guy is picking up the skimmer so I will post some before I meet up with him. Talk to you later. Jesse

cheers Ronen, not so lucky, more like broke ;)

Jesse I need a 90 elbow to direct the water down. the output is about 4" from the side of the stand and the water is splashing drops up onto the wood. It won't last long like that. I will be putting some plexi in place, but I would like the option to direct the water if needed.

I opened the air valve this morning, there is now a nice column of thick cappuccino colored foam at the top of the cup. the bubbles are about 6" from the bottom of the skimmer, before they reached all the way down. Is this normal as the skimmer breaks in?

Jhale,
I have a tee I can send you that will work better than a 90. When I got mine I didn't have any fittings so I took a threaded 1 1/4" fitting and a 90 to make a 90 but I like the tees in case the water level moves and covers the outlet. A threaded 1 1/4 fitting will need to be sanded down a little to fit snug in the skimmer. On my skimmer I would say it is about 4-6 inches from the bottom. When I do a water change it gets right near the bottom. Sounds like you are broken in. The manual says 1-5 cms from the bottom and they are referring to any bubbles, not the thick column that we are talking about, so I think this is normal. Jesse

I think it is still breaking in. If you open up the air more can you get it to overflow? Also you could cut back the outflow a bit to help spped up the break in. That is more skimmate than that poor last skimmer had already. My bubbles go down further than that and there are not as many "stray bubbles" at the bottom. Mine has a very definite bottom to the bubble column. Keep us informed. Jesse

Yeah J, I would definitely close that rudder on the outflow a little bit to raise the water level a little in the skimmer. That foam is too dry. I Know that skimmer can do better than these pics. Bring that thing here, i'll show you how to use it :D
