Update

A bunch of people have been asking "Are we nearing the goal?"

There really isn't a goal. The point of this thread was to remind people that there are external reoccurring costs for running this community, and that the donor list made no distinction between people who donated $1 two years ago and someone who donated $20 every 6 months.

Manhattan Reefs is not going anywhere. We're not in financial trouble. The site actually had enough money in reserve to operate for several months, but if we are going to upgrade our equipment everyone should know about it and get a reminder that their donations actively fund this group. It's not a good idea to increase expenses when donations were decreasing.

Suffice it to say, the outpouring of support (be it financial or tech savvy ideas to cut costs) has been extremely positive and we are going to be moving forward with the server upgrade as soon as possible.
