will any of the vendors be selling fish/inverts? Looking for some peppermint shrimp to take care of some aptasia for me

Sure, a few of the vendors will bring inverts to the swap, or you may want to make arrangements (pre-order) with one of the vendors in advance for pick-up at the swap.
They must be a registered swap vendor to do this!

thinking about coming to this never been to something like it. What should one bring with them? And what should I expect? Is it something I can bring kids to?

You don't need to bring anything other than a smile and your curiosity. Most attendees bring a cooler bag of some sort to carry purchases in and of course a fat wallet :). Kids are free, and they usually have a great time, but if you want to make a full day of it, you might might want to reconsider depending on the age and interest level of the child.

The event is part flea market/ part educational with vendors and members selling and trading frags etc. There are 2 lectures, some workshops, tours of my tanks, an auction and raffle. More than anything though, it is an opportunity to meet, socialize and exchange information with 300+ other fanatical hobbyists. How many other places can you walk around a crowded room muttering "zooxanthellae" and not get odd looks?
