Tony, Tony, Tony........nahhhhhhh, I ain't gonna say it! LMAO
Listen, I know you drilled the pvc with a ton of holes for the overflow. That is a great TEMPORARY fix. The likelihood of a snail or Nori or algae or something clogging that over time is not only likely, but probable. When it does clog, there will only be one place for your water to flow >>>>>> to the floor.
You need to rig a more permanent, reliable overflow screen to prevent that flood. Ideally, what you want to do is have your pvc overflow running horizontal, not vertical. The pvc should be 1/2 on the surface of the water and 1/2 out of the water. The strainer should be on that horizontal pvc.
If the strainer begins to clog below the water surface the water level in the tank will rise, but continue to flow out your overflow, because it should clog from the submerged section first. This will be like an early warning device.
When you see that the clogging has raised your water level, it will be an indication that you need to do some maintenance and clean the clog. But this will at least avert a flood.
I know this probably sounds confusing, so if you have any Q's about it, just ask.
