What are your parameters?
The cycle probably hasn't even started yet!

It did if he dumped a lot of that food in there for the poor mandarin.
all levels are good. i made the tank spike ammonia before i put the fish in and nitrite spiked to 1.0ppm and fell to zero on day 2 and 3..
im not that dumb. he got like 3 dead copepods feed from an eyedroperKathyC said:It did if he dumped a lot of that food in there for the poor mandarin.

put a dead shrimp in and force the spike
there are over 1000 live copepods in the tank and in 2 weeks more then double..i dont think he will starve at least 500 are big enough to be seenThis is a common technique used to start the cycle, and does not cause a cycle to complete in three days, it merely starts the cycle.
Also, I have successfully kept my mandarin for about a year now, and he is feeding all day, every day. Three dead pods will not be enough food for a Mandarin, as they need a constant source of food available to survive.
ps i had a purple tang in a 12 gal for 3 years and he was put in the exact same way im doing this tank..... i sold him with the tank.there are over 1000 live copepods in the tank and in 2 weeks more then double..i dont think he will starve at least 500 are big enough to be seen
