I really like this tank. It's exactly half the height of my 45 cube. Do you buy your corals locally or do you trade them out? (I used to go to Eddie's Aquarium all the time when I lived in Latham). Again, GREAT JOB!

this tank is unbelievable! the pictures make it look like HUGE tank, but it's amazing that it's so small. very thorough post.

how do you like keeping the swissguard? i've been toying with the idea of getting one, i've never seen them around in other reefer's tanks but they look like snazzy little fish :scratchch

The corals are already growing over their plugs/rocks and I'm not sure what to do, lol. I guess I could frag and trim them down, but it might be more natural to let them do what they naturally do and that is to battle it out.

I love the Swissguard. It's shy in the day time, but will come out during feeding time. At night, it's all over the place, I have staring contests with it at night as it's right up to the glass, well, acrylic =D

Time for a BIG photo update.

The major changes since the beginning of the year is in salt mixes and in dosing of a variety of Brightwell products. I changed from Tropic Marin Pro Reef (TMpr) to Oceanic (O) with unfavorable results. Since March, I'm using a mixture of the two salts in a 2:3, TMpr:O ratio with better success. The following Brightwell products are currently being manually dosed nightly: MicroBacter7, Reef Biofuel, KoralColor, Potassion, CoralAmino, Iodion, Vitamin C, PhytoChrome, Zooplanktos-M, Microvore, and Reef Snow. I have, but contemplating the usage of Restor and R?plenish.

Coral polyp extension and growth have been phenomenal and overall water parameters are stable. I have removed the majority of the fish and have a few in mind to replace them in the near future. Skimmer is off at night. Future plans include an upgrade to a slightly wider and taller Starphire tank. A UV sterilizer have been purchased will be running on the same timer as the skimmer.

Enjoy all 77 photos!
