The rock is too close to the front of the tank. Try to stack or glue the rock to create a bit more vertical space and make sure you have enough room for a scraper on the front of the tank.
I think a skimmer might actually be overkill to be honest. As long as you are not adding a ton of animals and overfeeding you can handle this tank with basic water changes and some media pads. I have something very similar and I don't use a skimmer.
