and here is one of the rocks I removed. Would you believe in November this rock was little more than 2 small colonies and 2 frags?

 the acro forest on your sink looks insane.

I can only imagine what the rest of the tank looks like.

How did the rock come out without making any frags?

10 months? :wow:

what're they doing outside the water?!

This rock and the stags were shading over a lot of my other acros. There is a lot of nice stuff in my tank that was browning out and being hidden, so 2 of my rocks were removed that look like this. The larger pieces were broken into smaller ones and I spread out my corals better so more are getting light. I have an Oregon tort that has grown 2 inches over the same time period that was hidden from view. It was being shaded by one stag and burned by another. I've also got a wild colony that was amazing for months and then it was shaded, and browned out. I had tons of fighting going on so growth had slowed. I needed more space. I have that now. It was too much of a good thing and I knew it had to be corrected. Time for another crazy growth spurt, only this time, I have more room to go. I dropped down my rock work to give me the appearance of an open area up top. My tank is going to look more like a Joe Burger tank.
Dave is right, for the most part, I had most of these corals for around 10 months. It wasn't until October/November that I made a bunch of improvements that the growth finally took off. Since my new upgrades, color and growth have been even better. I'm loving the tank and I swear... really... no more messing with it for the rest of the summer.
