This skimmer is different than the other one you were building a few months ago? The one with the mesh wheels? If so, what influenced you to make the change? Were you able to modify that skimmer into this one, or did you have to start from scratch?

Steven, this is a whole new skimmer. The mesh wheel was cool and the build was fun and everything, but I'm done messing with needles/mesh wheels. This skimmer has pulled more nog in 48 hours than a Deltec did in a month. As much as I loved my modified ER, this pulls out more than that did in a week. (yes, my modified ER blew the AP701 away).
That mesh wheel skimmer was too big. You can do so much more with a smaller beckett skimmer and by my design, you don't need the high pressure/high wattage pumps to outperform the majority of NW/MW skimmers.
I'll admit... I have been beaten. I was a BK basher. BK's are pretty damn impressive and I'm hearing some amazing air draw from their engineered titanium mesh wheel. At the same time, I'm not going to spend $2500 on a skimmer.
As for the BM's... whatever.

I had a few guests yesterday and I basically liberated a couple of those damn monti caps. Gave me the perfect spot. Really beautiful piece. Gave me that splash of blue where I needed it. Out of the glued piece, 3 frags have completely recessed. Out of the rest on that rock, I think I'll lose one or 2 more, but for the most part, the rest look good. The other 2 colonies are fine. Now that I'm done messing around, I'm much more stable. Don't worry... I'll lure Spykes here tomorrow and I'll kick his a$$ and get your coral back from him. I would unleash the newbie on him, but due to his inability to walk, he doesn't punch or kick very hard yet and his ground game is a little weak too. I'm gonna keep him with Manny for a while.

This thing is a pig. I guess a testament to your work is the results. I don't know if you guys remember the Pappone thread, but I'm putting half of one of those trays I pictured in just to try to get my PO4 over 0.0
I've reduced my use of GFO by half. I'm not dating myself here, but I am proud of this skimmer.
One little heads up/lesson learned... I never had issue with teflon tape. Someone told me not to use it and go with the teflon paste. Didn't wrk out to well for me. I noticed 1 valve to my simmer was leaking. I fixed that with teflon tape. Tonight I noticed the return from my chiller has a slow leak too. I'll be fixing that with tape as well.

I know I said I was going to be hands off with my tank for the summer too, but I got my ballast back from Icecap and while I had the top off my tank, I did a little rearranging.
