Coco and Mocha need the magic barrier of the laundry basket to get along! These pictures make me want to scoop up Mocha and smoosh him! (and pet Coco in a dignified manner).
Wes, the gobies will pick at the acros once in a while, I don't see any negative effects from them. the polyps will retract a bit in the area the gobies are, but the coral continues to grow as normal. I like the gobie / acro combo, it gives the corals some movement and they look really cute sitting in the colonies. the small size is a plus as they do not add much to the bio-load
an update shot. so much has changed in my tank I should start a new tank thread.
I've changed almost all the equipment, rid the tank of cynobacteria, the auriga butterfly has eaten all the visible aiptasia, and I've added a massive clean up crew to eradicate the bubble algae.
yes after a couple of months with no cyno I felt it was safe to add the sand back.
I will say that by changing salts my cyno disappeared. I can't say if it was coincidence or not. I now am using coralife.
lissa, next time i see you I'll give you some coralife. I'd like to see what happens in your tank. being that it's smaller it may take care of the cyano faster. it would be a good test.
it's getting there, again. I lost some color on the right and left sides due to some old bulbs I was using. I was waiting for fuana marin bulbs to come in, but they are tough to get. so I gave in and ordered some of the ushios that randy uses. I hope the color will recover quickly.
what I've changed:
• switched to DE lighting, 3 icecap reflectors with DE 250 bulbs run on icecap ballasts.
• changed the skimmer to a deltec AP702.
• added 2 large deltec reactors, one for carbon the other for GFO.
• soon to add a full aquatronica controller package, just waiting on some more parts.
