i usually take zertec D and USUALLY works amazing for me. now its doing nothing. the vicks nose spray works RIGHT AWAY and is AMAZING. but i stopped using it because i became addicted to it and it is an easily addicting spray. so sadly i cannot use it anymore. i just bought extra strength Mucinex D. hoping this does what it says it does...

Have all year round allergies, removed Polyps, deviated septum,Had surgery to fix all that and still suffer from it.Claritin D does wonders but I get wired on it so used it sparingly.I use the Flonase but Nasonex is better.

Well the past few nights I started wheezing really badly when I laid down at night and was not able at all to sleep. I had to breath so hard that it was uncomfortable and did not sleep at ALL. And during the day when I took a breath my spine hurt and I got almost a chill feeling internally. I could not breath anymore because of my nose, and my headaches would not go away.so, finally went to the doctor... I have "allergic bronchitis": good news is that it cannot be spread, but if I dont get better in a week, I need to go back ASAP because it can get extremely bad and have to go to the hospital.

I'm on 5 different things now...

Nasonex ( sucks does not work )
Dulera inhaler
ProAir HFA inhaler ( emergency only )
Azithromycin 250mg
Prednisone 50mg

So far with the dulera inhaler, I do not wheeze anymore during the day, and before bed I take 2 hits of the ProAir HFA and it is so much better to breath. The nasonex crap sucks. The doctor says it takes 4-5 days to work, but I can't wait that long, I need instant relief with my nose. So I guess it's getting better so far. But today I had to take off of work. The doctor said the first day or two I'm going to feel extremely tired and weak. Well he was right. Could not move all day. Just laid in bed. It sucked because it's like a had a cold or a flu and just want to sleep, but I didn't feel like that, just...weak. It was very boring. Whatever. Hopefully tomorrow I feel a bit stronger...

See if you can get Patanase for quicker relief of your sinus issues. I hate Nasonex...it hurts my nose and seems less effective than the other steroid inhalers. I prefer Nasacort...but most prefer Flonase. (Beconase was the best, but it gave me nose bleeds.) I always got asthmatic bronchitis every year...Feb was my month. Because I could predict when I'd be likely to get it, I decided to be proactive. Starting in January I took Singulair every night all the way through to late March. It works- I haven't had allergic bronchitis in 2 years.

You should not be takine Sudafed or Mucinex for allergies. They treat the symptoms and not the cause and your dependence on them increases as they are basically just playing around with your blood vessels.

As someone who suffers from allergies, I can tell you that allergy "season" is ALL YEAR. Right now is the pollen season but there is a mold season, ragweed/hayfever, dust/dry season, etc. Basically, there is never more than 2-4 weeks in between any particular season and by the time you get over it the next one is upon us.

In addition to Zyrtex and Claritin, you can try and get Nasonex if your head is congested. It works much better than those two but will take a week to two in order to be effective.

The only "cure" is long term desensitization which absolutely works. I've been getting shots for allergies for years now and I am really not bothered by them at all anymore. I used to be completely miserable in late Summer to Fall as well as right around now in the Spring. If you are really bothered by them, seek out an immunologist and start getting treatment, it works. You will be really glad that you did it and if you have health insurance the visits to the doctor are actually a very cheap copay.

Nasonex ( sucks does not work )
Dulera inhaler
ProAir HFA inhaler ( emergency only )
Azithromycin 250mg
Prednisone 50mg

The prednisone is going to help a lot but you should stick with the Nasonex as it is very effective and you can't take the prednisone forever.

Eventually the Nasonex will kick in and you will only be taking that and the Dulera (maybe) long term. Nasonex has no scent and is quite strong, after 2 weeks if you don't see the difference you can switch to Nasacort or Flonase. Nasonex has very low chance of side effects though.

Thanks a lot Josh. Yeah I just started today again taking mucinex D. Feeling a bit better, but today my wheezing came back randomly, and now coughing pretty bad. Maybe in a few weeks if I get no better I'll talk to my doctor about your reccomenations if the co pay and all is not too crazy. I do have health insurance sowe will see...

I use to take Claritin and then it stopped working, for the past 2 years the only thing that worked is Zyrtec. But they say every 7 years your body will change. No problems this year and last year was very light for me. Hoping this is a good sign.
