Are you able to carbonate the beer?

If you're bottling, you add sugar prior to putting the beer in bottles. The yeast will naturally produce CO2.

I keg, so I simply attach my CO2 line to the keg and turn the PSI to my desired level of carbonation.

Both methods can produce excellent results.

$40 isn't terrible since it comes with basic equipment as well. After that you buy the "Mix". The Brooklyn HB kits are ingredients only.

bad coffee: The kit with the extra capper and basic equipment (and your 1st round of ingredients) is $55 if I recall. After that you have the equipment and new ingredient packs are just $15 each, or you can do whatever you want recipe wise.

aquascaper: It doesn't come with everything, you still need a 6l pot (or 2) and a strainer. Do yourself a favor and get a slightly larger pot and strainer than they recommend though.

It's really not as bad as it sounds and after the first batch was in the glass carboy my Gf and I kind of thought "that was it?" lol. If you have the other equipment already you can just sanitize it but we figured if we do this enough it made sense to just get pots and strainers just for brewing.

The C-brite sanitizer it comes with is a pain and before we brew again I'll be getting a bottle of star-san.

Nope, but I have a drugstore around the corner that also swaps propane tanks, so I've made last minute brew day runs for hop hose and gas! :thrash:

I started about 2 years ago (with beerfish, actually,) and now I brew all grain (mostly.) If I ever have some free time I'm going to build an electric brew setup and get away from the stove.

You've officially lost it when you start buying appliances to house and serve your beer.

This was my beer fridge a year ago. I'm painting it, replacing the collar and adding more taps to it for this season.

You need to brew more.

I've currently got a keg of cream ale, about half a keg of an imperial stout, and two kegs of IPA being filled tonight. Hopefully brewing this weekend since I'm running low.

That rig looks pretty cheaply made actually. When my new pilot rig is done, I'll post some pics of it.

Here's some of my lab gear for brewing. The full flask on the stir plate is my yeast propagation for tomorrow's brewing. Once I get my hemocytometer, I'll be able to get a consistent cell count and know exactly how much yeast I'm pitching into each batch.
