Hmmm thats the first I heard of that before. B5 s4s are the same in the states as they are in germany except for emissions and saftey bullshit like glass bumper beams etc.

thay are different like you said emission for the use makes then germ the different aslo altitude the ecm are different and the motors are built different as well any car thats thats not made in the us is made different from the ones we drive the car is remade for the us thats why . Thouse car are not imported from germany there made some were in the us there a stamp on the driver door with the vin and it will tell you were in the us it was made thats with all cars.

Is techs in mind when designing the cars, and at least benz leaves you room in the engine bay to work. Everything on these audis is crammed in there, a simple serpentine belt is a nightmare if yoydont want to put it in service position.

i def agree abt the audi think.. atleast theyre not as bad as an old saab, some of the younger guys will have no idea what im talking abt..but lets see who gets it first...

Well i am no mechanic but like i said before i hate doing remote starters on push start vehicles and dont get me started on the saabs lol with the center consle ignition lol i did one and never did one again and the other car which i had a huge problem installing a dvd flipout was the porsch cheyenne took the oem radio out of the car nothing worked windows power locks, car wouldnt start i freaked out and plugged the oem radio back in everything was back to normal but since the customer wanted the navigation i had to run wires to the back of the car so i can have the factory radio hidden in the car it was a bad long day for me lol

this is a mechanical thing with them.. ill give a hint.. where is the front of the motor located?
The worst Car I worked on before was a dodge spirit R/T. Doing a timing belt on one is very very difficult. Espically since the car is so rare and their is not much lietrature on the car. Also the heads are made by lotus which makes things more complicated.
as far as audis go I have had 2 s4s and 1 a6 2.7t 6spd. I actually dont mind working on them, because I usaually just pull the motor once, replace everything and then put it back and its good to go. I can pull a motor in about 2 hours now. I have done about 4 of them.

the saab or slob, has the engine mounted in reverse.. belt is at the firewall..and to do front cover reseal you had to pull the motor.. and lets not talk abt the turbos.. junk!!
are you serious? have you ever worked on any of the new benzs. I have worked on an E55 amg. That car is a total nightmare. I had to replace one of the rear airbags for the suspension.

I'd rather do the rear bags than a coolant temp sensor on a 1.8. Stage we met at your fish store a few weeks ago after the swap, I was with my friend we were talking audis for a little. Motor trend I hate those saabs too, we get a few customers who think they're the fastest cars in the world! Alternator on the back of the motor below the exhaust manifold WTF!!!

Yes I have alot off them .Hay some people can work on them some cant .I guess that why im the lead tech at my shop. And I delt with a lot of bmw and benz putting them back together from susp to elect frames and air bags. Look those car ar not that bad to me. Now audis dont get me wrong when a audi or volks come to the shop for an inspection i know that check eng light is on and what do you know the car fails because the check eng light is on .And now thay have to fix it..

Well I dont like them there very very high maintenance . Im already married I dont need a second one wife .
It really depends on what model, year, miles, etc. The b5 s4 is far less reliable then the b6-b8 v8 s4s. They are very reliable and really dont have many problems.
