so what do u guys think. my g-pa is going through and old life crisis. so he wants a nice sport car. he knows his cars. he worked for ramsey nissan for about 45+ years now... but he is not a cirtified gtr licenced mechanic. he is thinking about the gtr...but also kinda wanted a convertible. so of course he said vette. not new though...like an 07-08 maybe.then he said the bmw not m6 but the one that looks like it, the 6 something i or whatever. and last he was thinking a chevy ssr. yeah i know that one was random but he liked them. but also the gtr because he loves nissan. i said the gtr because he works for nissan and can get a CRAZY deal for it since he worked so long there and all. he drove it and loved it but said it was extremely complicated with all the digital gauges and ect. i dont know whats the matter with him. whats your opinion because i dont know much about bmw, 08 vettes and the ssr. i dont care about looks, i mean actual terms about the cars in general. also dont worry about price, i told him he is crazy already for thinking about them. he has a 07 dodge cummin's and jeep commander so the whole winter thing and all dont worry about and relieability. he is getting close to retirement and is getting a nice simple new home. now he needs to fill the garage...

The GTR is by the best car you can buy for 90 grand. It is a simply amazing looking, handles great, sick breaks, tons of power, awd, sick transmission. Plus you can run 10.3s on the stock turbos, stock motor, and drag radials. Tell me what car runs those times on stock motor and turbos for under 90 grand? Corvette? GTR will eat it for breakfeast on the street thats for sure.

vette isnt 90k either ;) the m5 runs 90k as well and will cost a fortune to have any service work done, one thing since ya said grandpa, as for a vette hard enough for me to get into and out of, also have him look at the v badge cts has a vette motor and built suspension, and which car will retain some value 4 yr's from now when he is tired of his body being beaten from the ride

fyi info if it is a brand new car there isnt a 20k mark up on it and working for a dealer or not { i work for one } there isnt much of a discount and most dealers will only go down to a profit of $500, dealership i work for own's honda, nissan, subaru, toyota, hyundia, chevy, acura.

exactallly. i am praying he goes with the gtr but i dont know why he is all into this convertible style now. he is a pretty quick driver. took out a 07 c6 yesterday and loved it, but kinda low to the ground and felt like he was not as confertible as he thought it would be. the gtr he said was a sharp car and VERY confertible, but like i said, he would have to get one without the screen or something because he got real confussed by soo many buttons. hes an oldtimer its not his fault lol. the bmw he did not like. he said it had no sport look to it and kinda too simple. he is on the hunt for low mile ssr to drive now. i dont know why but lol. anything else you guys reccomend that would go into that class for around 75 and under. remember. not too simple but not crazy. has to be sporty not all luxury. quick, convertible or not is still up to him. he is a big fan of the hard tops but cant find anything he likes. he saw someone with a convertible new challenger but they said it was custom made and i dont know when there coming out in convertibles. oh well. yeah what would you suggest?

Suggestion,
Take a look at some of the supermustangs out there now. 5-650 horses stock. Quick comfy and stylish in a retro kind of way might appeal to him. Not much out there to beat him in the street times are awesome for a streeter from the dealer and they do hold value. I've seen way too many gtrs out there that have been beat to crap by speed racer wannabe drifters so be careful what you buy. Also unless grandpa is pretty agile the stang is a better idea than the gtr.

Oh like if you buy a used mustang/corvette they havent been beat on? it really goes both ways. You can get a gtr in the 60s now with about 5k miles on it which is pretty much brand new. It also still has a warentee so I wouldnt worry about it?

warenty doesnt cover abuse... just to let you guys know...back when i worked for mitsu, the 3000gt was very popular and the twin turbo model was fast as hell, but when they blew up warenty wouldnt touch them bc they would send a factory rep down and he would see rubber in the wheel well and say declined customer pay only... so on hot rods you need to be very cautious when relying on a dealer to fix our boo boos.. like trans's clutches, turbos.bla bla bla... and also a recomendation if u blow a motor take the nitrous bottle out of the trunk before u tow it into the dealer when you try to have warrenty pay for the new motor...lol true story!!!

as of july 1st, NJ will be discontinung the use of state inspection, saving the state 12mil a year in the budget bc only 3% of vehicles are failing for mechanicals reasons. so hopfully this passes.. but not sure if its complete disolving of all inspection or just mechanical, or mechanical and emissions.. and not sure if they will have just a safety insp.. or nothing at all... but that woulld be great for us hotrodders that have to go the alterative route for a sticker

whoa whoa whoa whoa back up....really? where did you hear about that? i did not hear about that, because if thats true....then thats AWESOME. if you find out anymore news please let me know, id be very interested in updates on that! so what, were trying to be like pa now or something? haha thats would make so many classic muscle owners so happy in jersey.

anyway, with my g pa...he drove the ssr yesterday and somehow actually really liked it. he said it was kinda bulky but enjoyed it...BUT and i quote in exact words, he said "the only downfall with this is that if i did actually buy something like that, that id look like an old guy with the top down driving around looking for some di*k". lmao. he said its nice, but somehow gives off a gay tone to it lol. so thats out. i did talk to him about the mustang last night that you sugguested and he said right away no. he is not a ford guy. he has always been a mopar kinda guy. in the past all his cars from 68-80 were dodges. sometimes you just cant change a guys though about cars ya know lol. i told him about the mustangs being fast and nice and seein the fact that my girlfriend's grandfather is leo who is the owner of Leo Kaytes Ford in warwick NY so i could get him a great deal. but he said its really not about the speed and all. he would rather look at the SHO instead of the mustang. he does like fast cars, but he is not spending this money for speed, he wants a fast car...but has to be THE ONE ya know. its his "old life crisis" lol. something that when he sees it it has to SCREAM bamf! he is going to take a look at the srt challenger and going to findout when the convertible's will be out, dont know if any of you know? he likes that limited edition blue color. i forget the name of the color its like someones name or whatever. so we will see how that goes tomorrow. still looking for other ideas though. he seems pretty excited to be checking out the srt. dont know an extreme amount about them.
