Yes it was and still is very much so. She had bad kidneys since she was a pup they never formed correctly so knew she would have a shortened life but she was robbed. 6 1/2 years later they were shutting down to where she was lethargic, couldnt eat and the urea levels in her blood were out of control. Had her on IV fluids for 3 days at the vet till her levels were ok. 5 days later brought her back for a checkup and the levels were high again so just wasnt right to make her suffer because I couldnt let go- she was too good of a friend to do that too, she was always a super energetic, happy dog, but she wasnt happy anymore she couldnt eat or even run around much, so it was time.

Was the worst year period I had in my life was august of 08 to 09- had a motorcycle accident in tennessee in august of 08 was in ICU for 6 days in a regular room for 7 more...broke both legs, one ankle, tore my spleen and tore my shoulder apart had 3 surgeries on my legs a 6 hour surgery on my shoulder- and had to put Bailey down in April in the middle of doing therapy for my legs and shoulder- am still not done but when this happened I was still walking with a cane so didnt get to at least take for a walk that she loved before I had to let her go. Enough of my sob story but had to put it in prospective.

Have you ever read the rainbow bridge poem?

Speaking of funny pictures. I just got into the hospital and there is a cat here that was found by one of our nurses that urinates in the toilet

Sorry I know its not a dog but come on, how cool is this

Hey. enriching peoples lives with live pets is just about the coolest thing you can do, I think I might like to meet that nurse.

I know I still miss my boxer Bailey marki- Was forced to put her to sleep on April 4th, last year. NOTHING will ever replace her- refuse to even consider another dog still at this point. Need to give her the respect of not just moving right along after.
Heres a pic of her when she was still with me playing with my buddy Gary's bulldog Lucky

Dog pics

Thought I would include pics of my current dog and the last dog along with a pic of my tank.

First pic is Lexi, a rescued pit bull. She had to be put down at 2 1/2 with an auto immune disorder that basically made swiss cheese of her brain. A horrible way for any animal to go but especially when they had the zest for life she did.

Second pic is of Kink, a failed show dog but very sweet none the less. Staffy Bull Terrier and cute as a button. SHe likes to shred the wrapping paper at Christmas time.

And of course, must include a pic of the tank although it is just one corner. This is the tank I want to upgrade the lighting on.

All nice looking pups!!!;)

Jimmy I am so sorry to learn of your loss!;( I know how you feel, we've lost a few too. Hubby and I have had dogs through out our 38yrs. together. I brought our first dog into the marriage, that was my Uma. Uma (my wolf/hybrid) still lives very much in my heart, and no other dog has been able to take a toe nail hold of that place, nor ever will. He was just to special!!!
You will never forget her, nor will you be replacing her. Getting another dog in your life is not an insult to her memory, it is just something that will make the hurt a tiny bit less.:)

We cried like babies the night we had to put Lexi down. As with yours I am sure, she was a trooper through the whole ordeal and enjoyed her life right to the end. Took her meds without fuss and tried her hardest to do what she had always done but had no balance to speak of. Eventually it reached the point of causing her pain and that was the end.

Kink is a lovely dog in her own way but just does not much like the boat or the car though she deals, (no choice since she goes everywhere with us). I keep waiting for her to realize the car and boat are the way to get to the fun but, though she'll jump in, she just shakes thorugh the whole ride. Ah well, this spring is training on the center console. Maybe she'll like it better when she can see where she is going.
