I'm a SCUBA diver, I've been from the Caribbean all the way to the Great Barrier Reef! :) still have a lot of spots I'd like to hit. How about you?

I'm not and kicking myself. I lived my whole life on the doorstep of the Barrier Reef and never took advantage of it! When I go home over the summer break I hope to be doing some of that!

Dove in the Bahamas, Bermuda, D.R. etc. & am heading to Fantasy Island Dive Resort in Roatan in May. (Looking forward to eating, diving, sleeping, diving & diving, diving-s/b doing 3-4 dives daily for a week.) I have heard mixed reviews though- the coral reefs are supposed to be fantastic but since the area is not a protected marine park I heard that there are not many fish there. Either way I can't wait.

FYI THERE IS A SCUBA EXPO AT THE MEADOWLANDS EXPO CENTER NEXT WEEK CALLED BENEATH THE SEA 2008. MAYBE I'LL SEE SOME FELLOW REEFER/SCUBA PEOPLE FROM THE SITE THERE. IT'S NEXT FRIDAY, SATURDAY AND SUNDAY.

NYCMAT, where did you dive in Roatan & did you enjoy? Any tips?

The dive in PA kind of sucks. That usually where people from this area go to get certified. I know that is where i was certified 12 years ago. It was actually a quarry that they allowed to fill up over the years. They have since placed sunked boats small planes and a fire truck. Water is pretty cold all year. Not really a fun or challenging dive. Nothing really to see. except for a few trout.

i have done all of honduras and i will be there in may as well. i will go to utilla in may but i will stay on the main land in La ciebe. more happening there IMHO. anyway you will see a lot. the last time i dove with the whale sharks off utilla. rotan is gorgeous. just heres the thing do there. do not fly TACA airlines. it stands for Take A Chance Airlines. if you are lucky you will get your luggage. if you fly into san pedro sula there airports fly to the islands for a lot cheaper and they are prop planes. been there 4 times already. great times. $1 american is equivelant to 20 of theres. you do the rest on that one! LOL. :) beers are $1 unless you get imports. buy theres its stronger and is cheaper-- salva vida and barena. now back to diving :) . it is a nice reef. nothing real special. but you do get to see anything in the atlantic there. night dives are good ones. also on rotan there is a pirate ship dive. and it is the cheapest diving there is that i have found. know some spanish as well. the locals appreciate you more when you try to talk to them. not that anything will go wrong or anything like that. listen shoot me a pm with your number and i will call you in regards.

thanks
matt

dove all over the Phil before coming State Side. Batangas is where everybody back home starts. Palawan & Davao has been always my faves. East Coast diving is too cold & murky for my taste (spoiled)
so I have all my stuff with my family back home, my wife still needs to get certified
