If you are a Yankee fan, you should blame on Giambi more than Arod. I believe because Texas was paying big portion of Arod paycheck, Yankee was paying Arod much less than Giambi. But atleast ARod had amazing regular season and never got hurt during he was member of Yankees. Big fat loser Giambi was just taking money and got hurt all freaking time. And he got caught for using steroid as well. Giambi should've retired atleast 3 years ago.

BTW, Arod coming to Yankees was like god send for Giambi. If Arod didn't come to Yankees, Giambi should've been the most hated Yankees player beside Pavano. Everyone was focusing on ARod on every move, Yankee fans just forgot about Giambi all together.

I am a Yankee Fan, I don't blame any one player. You are wrong on several things

1) even though A-rod is subsidized by Texas he still costs more annually than Giambi.

2) He was never caught doing steroids. He manned up and admitted to it when everyone else lies about it to this day.

3) Giambi always has a high OBP, and he was has always been a strong player when he's not hurt. Despite the injuries, Giambi still managed to average 30 HR per year w/ the yankees

outfield: damon, rowand, abreu and matsui. infield, cano 3rd base, jeter ss, eckstien 2b, 1b sean casey to a 2 year deal. so pave the way for texiera next year.

damon has a crappy arm, rowand is always hurt, eckstien isn't as good a 2b as cano and he's old, casey is overrated and over the hill

i rather have Cabrera LF, Hunter in CF, Abreu RF, Matsui DH, have no idea who to stick at 3B, don't know who's out there, Betemit hasn't exactly "wowed" me compared to everything people say about him, Cano 2B, Jeter SS, Texiera 1B, isn't he a free agent this year??

also won't touch wood, he's just another pavano waiting to happen

Yankees signed Giambi for 7 years $120 mil, that's little more than $17mil per years.

According to 2004 ESPN reports,
Under the deal, the Yankees pay Rodriguez $15 million in each of the next three seasons, $16 million each in 2007 and 2008, $17 million in 2009 and $18 million in 2010, according to contract information obtained by the AP from player and management sources.

So if this article is correct, Yankees paid ARod much less than Giambi.

These are the stats from 2002, tell me which one worth more for Yankees,

2002
Giambi 560(AB) .314(BA) 41(HR) 122(RBI) .435(OBP)
Arod(Tex) 624(AB) .300(BA) 57(HR) 142(RBI) .392(OBP)

2003
Giambi 535(AB) .250(BA) 41(HR) 107(RBI) .412(OBP)
Arod(Tex) 607(AB) .298(BA) 47(HR) 118(RBI) .396(OBP)

2004
Giambi 264(AB) .208(BA) 12(HR) 40(RBI) .342(OBP)
Arod 601(AB) .286(BA) 36(HR) 106(RBI) .375(OBP)

2005
Giambi 417(AB) .271(BA) 32(HR) 87(RBI) .440(OBP)
Arod 605(AB) .321(BA) 48(HR) 130(RBI) .421(OBP)

2006
Giambi 446(AB) .253(BA) 37(HR) 113(RBI) .413(OBP)
Arod 572(AB) .290(BA) 35(HR) 121(RBI) .392(OBP)

2007
Giambi 254(AB) .236(BA) 14(HR) 39(RBI) .356(OBP)
Arod 583(AB) .314(BA) 54(HR) 156(RBI) .422(OBP)

Yankees fans blamed on Arod since he is the highest paying player in MLB. But actually Yankees had him for $15mil per years. That's shockingly bargain price for today's market. If you are going to blame on ARod, you should blame on player like Giambi, Pavano, Clemens (2007), and many many others before the blame comes to ARod. Arod is the least problem for this team.

Who is blaming A-Rod? LOL is he your brother or something?

you are right about giambi's contract i thought it was less...

nonetheless, i still don't consider either Giambi or A-Rod a waste of money. I am not saying one deal was better than the other.

You seem to dislike Giambi alot but all i know is i see tons of both Giambi and A-Rod Jerseys in the stands every game. I am sad to see either one of them go.

No, I am not saying you are blaming on ARod. I am just saying, ARod actually did helped alot more than alot of other Yankees player with less money.

This is beginning of 2007 Yankees payroll,

C - Jorge Posada - $12MM
1B - Gary Sheffield - $8MM ($5MM deferred)
2B - Robinson Cano - $0.381MM
SS - Derek Jeter - $20MM
3B - Alex Rodriguez - $16MM
IF - Andy Phillips - $0.38MM
LF - Hideki Matsui - $13MM
CF - Johnny Damon - $13MM
RF - Bobby Abreu - $15MM
OF - Melky Cabrera - $0.38MM
DH - Jason Giambi - $21MM
SP - Randy Johnson - $14.5MM
SP - Chien-Ming Wang - $0.38MM
SP - Jaret Wright - $7MM (player option)
SP - Philip Hughes - $0.38MM
SP - Carl Pavano - $10MM
RP - Mariano Rivera - $10.5MM
RP - Kyle Farnsworth - $5.25MM
RP - Mike Myers - $1.25MM
RP - Scott Proctor - $0.38MM
RP - Brian Bruney - $0.38MM

If you look at the list, you can abviously see Jason Giambi made the most money, yet I don't hear anything about Giambi anymore. Yet, people are saying ARod is all about money. I think that's true however how did you guys treat Clemens when he came back to Yankees this year? I still remember the time when Clemens was announced to be a Yankees. And they treated him like a king, savior. I think Clemens is more greedy than anyone else out there, he left the Yankees and got more money from Houston. And he left that place and came back to Yankees for record deal. But Yankees announced to whole Yankees stadium, "Welcome Home Rocket". At the sametime, Hank Steinbrenner said ARod isn't the true Yankees because he opted out, he wants more money. Hank is just pissed off because he lost money from Texas.

Who is true Yankees? I remember when Bernie Williams wanted to come back for Yankees (I believe he is true Yankees and I am sure you can get him for much less money) and Yankees organization turned him down. Very sad.

ARod i am cuz of what he brings to the field, everything else that comes with him no, i hope he does get his retarded contract stuck on a crappy team till he retires with no way to opt out and no one willing to trade a whole team for him. he deserves to be screwed on the worst team in baseball for the next 8-10 years left on his career

as for Giambi, it's sad that he never was able to have the career he looked like he was going to have when he signed, granted not all the time he was here he was horrible, but still not what everyone thought it would be.

and the donnie curse, that's old news, giambi curse, never heard of that, that's new news

i agree with your statement to an extant, difference between arod and clemens, clemens has won the ring with the yankees, arod hasn't. that is it honestly imo of why clemens was able to get what he got and not have such a big deal about it compared to arod. clemens also didn't leave the yankess to get more money, he did retire. and when he returned, the astros weren't anywhere near to making the playoffs so they weren't even thinking about clemens. Hank doesn't lose money to Texas when arod opted out, Texas only pays arod if he didn't opt out. There's no money transfer between Texas and New York

Bernie was treated wrongly, agreed, but it wasn't as if the Yankess turned him down, he just didnt' want to earn a spot on the roster. he wanted to be given a spot right off the bat. I don't agree that he had to earn a spot, but it wasn't as if he really wanted to play, if he did, all he would have had to do was show up, Torre even called him a bunch of times to get him to show up, never showed.

with that logic, that Torre should've stayed with $5 mil with playoff incentive. Bernie didn't wanted do that because he doesn't need to earned the position. Torre didn't signed next year contract because he doesn't need anymore motivation to get into the playoff.

BTW, when Clemens won his ring, he had plenty of great players around him. Unfortunately when Arod was here, he had garbage players like Giambi, Pavano and that new Japanese pitcher and many others. Clemens was lucky and be at the right time, Arod is just plain bad luck.

Clemens lucky and in the right place at the right time?!?

You have got to be kidding man! You are talking about a legendary hall of fame pitcher who will be remembered as one of the greatest pitchers the game has ever seen.

He probably should have just stayed home this year, but when the Yanks are knocking at your door offering you an insane amount of money, you are going to take it if you think you have a few good starts left in you.

I am not denying that Clemens is great pitcher, maybe one of the best. But his playoff record isn't that great. Yes, he got the WS rings when he was in Yankees but if Clemens was playing Yankees when Arod joined Yankees, I doubt he got the ring. It's all about timing.

As a pitcher, Clemens is one of the best. As a hitter, ARod is the BEST.

BTW, he didn't just stayed home and Yanks knocking at his door step. His agent had lunch meeting with Boston. And Yanks got paniced and offered him the most ridiculous money ever offered him. If you think $30+mil for Arod is ridiculous, but that's cheaper than what you got out of Clemens this year.

that's what i said, bernie didn't need to, Torre would have just gave him the spot if he just showed up. Torre didn't sign the contract not because he didn't need motivation, all of this past contracts have been incentive based. He didn't sign it cause he wanted a granted contract with more than one year.

Luck has nothing to do with hitting one home run in four past post seasons and how ever hundred home runs in the reg season. Giambi wasn't as bad as you think or everyone makes it seem, he just never lived up to all the hype. Pavano pitch five games the whole time he was here and mayb the same with Kei Igawa, you can't honestly say because of three players arod had crap players around him. every team every year has crap players around them, that's a bad reason to say luck had anything to do with clemens wining a ring and arod not

This was very amusing year to watch Yankees this year.

Yankees spend their money left and right. Alot of time, they got big return. But at the sametime, they wasted their money like no other out there.

Yankees' been known to spend money to get the team the best you can offer to their fan base which I do admired that. You have to put the best product out there to make money. Yet, they try to save $ 2 mil dollar from Joe Torre, that's ridiculous.

Turned down their true Yankees player, Bernie Williams, because he got too old. Yet, they signed the oldest pitcher with record setting deal.

Lost the bid on Dice-k, so they have to waste money on other japnese pitcher.

Didn't signed Mo beginning of this year because that's not the Yankees tradition. Yet, Yankees gave a permission to Clemens to go home while he is not pitching (although I doubt Clemens ever did go home, I am not sure).

Calling ARod non true Yankees, because he opted out for more money, yet you have a player like Clemens seeking for more money and throw a welcome home party.

To be honest, Yankees as a whole group lost alot of credibility this year.

one- everyone wastes money from time to time, it's just not boradcasted cause yankees are in new york

two- again, it wasn't the money, it was the length in contract, which honestly they should have just given Torre

three- again, wasnt' treated fairly, but also didn't show up. and age has gotten to bernie, two at the beginning of the season, where was the weak spot of the yankess, not in the outfield or dh, it was pitching. Clemens still proven at his age to be able to give a good outting, granted his performance this year was sub-clemens like, still needed his presence on the mound and in the clubhouse with the rookies. and no he never used the pass card and fyi, he isn't the only one that has something like that in their contract or has done something like that to not travel. again, in ny it all gets blown out.

four- i'm glad we lost out on dice-k, cause are you seriously saying he's worth one hundred and whatever the million the contract and "talking fees" are. as for kei, different league different player, he was one of the best in japan, now his one of the worst in america, even though at times he looked pretty good.

what difference does it make if we signed him in the beginning or at the end, really?? how does that impact on how the yankees are??

all your points, just sound like every other hater
