I haven't read the entire thread, but you need to pick a dog based on your lifestyle, family, and home.
For example, if you get a high energy dog, and aren't able to spend time with it, it will be a problem for you and the dog.
If nobody is home for most of the day, you might be better off with a... cat.
So tell us about your lifestyle, home/yard, family, activity level, and what you're looking for in a dog.
And last, avoid pet stores like the plague. Inbred dogs from puppy mills sold for high prices are heartaches and high vet bills for years to come.
Visit your local shelters, and fall in love with a unique mutt (often healthier than any purebred dog), and save a life in the process.
If you are patient, and open minded, you will find an amazing dog this way.
Good luck, and do lots of research before you bring one home.
