It's to reduce downloading virus down to a minimum from somewhat reputable sources. Though my newsreader Newsbin can detect it while downloading and not d/l it.
^ you are correct sir. This is just a container file format that tells your newsreader to download all the rar, par and nfo files. You open the nzb and your newsreader gets to working.
Correct. Easynews is the only few, if there's any others, that has a web interface to their Usenet content. You won't need to deal with NZBs if you're happy with that route. Maybe I'll switch back just for that till this NZB thing blows over. Just not going back to UUdecoding MIME coded files!
I'm on Newhosting now, switched from Easynews to Giganews to Astraweb and now Newhosting. I jumped around based on retention periods and deals each provider was running at the time.
