My tank is dropping to 70* at night and hitting 78* during the day. Surprisingly, the fish seem ok and my acros seem to be holding their colors. Maybe, they like ammonia...

That's good news and I hope it keeps like that ... and to a certain extent corals may like amonia (but very little of it) ...
Suggestion: At night, you could use a gas heater to maintain room temperature and compensate ... if you do use such an approach, please do not forget to ventilate the room (a little gap by opening a window just to let air enter should be enough) and also keep safety rules as you will have fire source working silently in the room... its a suggestion.

For sure they are ... still people have needs and it is normal to find solutions

Up here in Albany my power went out sunday night just after I left for a work trip to Buffalo. While there I was able to buy the last generator that was the store display model. On my way back home last night, the kids called and said the power had just been restored. This was after talking to the power company with them saying that we would not have power until the Hudson River receded. I live on a hill in an old italianate house that overlooks the Hudson and many houses (that used to belong to the house builders ship crews) which are directly on the river and for now under the river. Guess I now will have power in the event of a future shut off, but the tank survived due to battery powered air and filter pumps.
I understand but 500,000 people didn't have power after the storm now in Teri day its half that they are busting there ass to get power back on
