Matt,
If you want some help give me a ring. I've built all the canopies we've got on our tanks and I've got all the tools you'll need. The canopy over our 65g in Manteca is very similar to what you want. If you want pics, I can post some later (I'm in Manteca right now) and let you know how I...
Always thinking about the next tank, eh? If you don't find a use for it, I could sure use it :). I could put it in between my two 29s and use it as a fuge or seahorse tank like you said. Rian would probably be ok with it if we went the sea horse route. I think your idea about the central pillar...
Rob Toonen gave me this same advice a couple of years back about preparing SouthDown before you put it in your tank to reduce the sandstorm you typically see when you add it. IME it works and your sand/rock will be ready to convert ammonia and nitrites.

Nikon,
I've put together a couple of DIY top-offs like Hwarang described. Very easy to do. And for the most part, pretty reliable. You should be able to put one together for ~$20-$40 depending on what parts you use. I can put together a quick DIY tutorial after this weekend if you're...
Nice pics! How is that red coco worm doing for you? And how much did it set you back? What do you feed it? My wife wants one really bad and since she let me have two tanks instead of one, I thought I'd spoil her a bit.

Good luck at the tables! Maybe you can win enough to buy that Helfrechi pair from Len.
Didn't you say that you're still in highschool? Hope you got some good IDs ;) . I'm 25 and still get carded all the time... [rolleyes]

TJ,
Your best bet is to buy rock from a local reefer. Most LFS live rock isn't worth buying. If you must order online, HarborAquatics is one of the best places to get some.

I'm using the Tronic 150watt heaters and they work fine for me... however the temp knob on the top is way inaccurate. As for the wood, use whatever you think looks good. Just make sure you use a good sealer. Personally, I like to use Marine Spar Varnish. HTH.

Yeah, I noticed the same color change in mine too. You're lucky yours is nipping at your algae. I guess I spoiled mine too much with emerald entree.
