  1. Be Careful of Some Frozen Foods!

I had the same experience with a green open brain and some silversides. It took them in only to boot a half hour later.
  2. Yellow Tang Vs. Sailfin: How much bullying is too much?

A shmuck with a tang in a 200 gallon tank and a shmuck with a tang in a 50 gallon tank is still a shmuck. A lot of other variables out there. Get my drift? LOL
  3. Coral Banded Shrimp - Reef Safe???

I have not had any problems with it attacking fish or snails that I know of but they will eat pods, worms etc. I don't want that so I removed it this morning. I would hardly ever see it anyway so it's no biggy.
  4. Your favorite tip or trick...

To acclimate snails slowly you can just leave the bag closed with the air inside. Float it, then reach under the water with a razor blade and make a small slit in the bag, maybe a 1/2", after that just leave it alone. When making the slit don't push to hard or you'll push the air out...
  5. Variable Refugium Flow Rates

I don't have to much experience with refugiums but the one I did set up did great with an extremely slow rate of turnover. I could almost piss into the tank faster but everything multiplied and grew....
  6. 'Pods and critters destroyed when going thru pumps?

Just wanted to throw in my $02. When a 1/4" by 1/4" piece of flake food goes throgh the pump it comes out smaller, but even the 4,5,6 pieces that come out seem to all be bigger than a pod. I don't think the mortality rate is that high at all....
  7. Kole Tang not eating

I wouldn't worry to much about it. The last one I had took about a week before it even began to taste things and then spit it out. As long as there is enough algea for it to graze on during this time, after a while I think it will eat anything you put into the tank. Go heavy on the greens....
  8. Sally-light-foots....Good or Bad????????

I'm not really sure.... I used to have one and it did stay on the rocks,,,, most of the time. Occasionaly it could be found on the sandbed and as quick as it would devour live brine floating by I'm betting that it would make short work of any worm, pod or small snail such as a nassarius...
  9. Sand bed algae & low coralline growth.

I wouldn't worry to much about the diatoms. My tanks been up for about 16 months now and I still get em. My nitrates are 0, and I don't think I've got any phosphates or silicates. I've yet to test but there are no warning signs outside of the normal diatom growth. You might want to try some...
  10. A Question about Hippo Tang Coloration?

I think that a prolonged lack of color could also be due to HLLE. Not a good sign....
  11. 37gl Corals

I would think most leathers, finger, toadstool, cabbage, etc, mushrooms, button polyps, yellow polyps, star polyps, open brain corals, hammer, torch, bubble, favia sp, etc. Basically just about everything. Be carefull though. Different corals like different conditions. My xenia pulse...
  12. Sallylightfoot crabs

The only problem I had with mine is that it would eat my snails occasionally. I think this was due to me not target feeding the crab directly. It never seemed to bother my star. I wonder if it might just be coincidence here. Starfish "skin" is pretty tough when you get down to it. I don't...
  13. Survey-Current Alkalinity

seven, seven E-leven, seven E-leven, seven even back door little joe.... I'm sorry Around 12 dKH
  14. 37gl Corals

Do you not like the PC's you have? That's enough light to keep quite a few corals happy and healthy. Leathers/softies should do great....
  15. snails and hermits...

My blue legs do a great job of cleaning up,,,,in the sump. The scarlet hermits have been pretty good. They all seem to be running around in the shells they came in. I think I have about 5 scarlet hermits in my reef and a few blues in the sump cruising around. As far as snails go, I'm all...
