Blue legs are murderers. You'll get quite a few people here telling you that even one hermit of any kind is too many. I like my scarlets, they've never hurt a soul (they have lots of grow out shells) but my blue legs are horrible. Murderers.

i see people putting gazillions of snails and hermits in their tanks as cleaners i have a 37 gallon with about 7 hermits 3 red 4 blue and 15 snails 9 bumble bees and 6 mexican turbos and i never even have to clean my glass. Dont over feed your tank and the algea wont come en masse. my blue legs never bother anyone ever since i scattered empty shells on the bottom. Most times when they kill its snails for shells give them shells and they dont need too
My blue legs do a great job of cleaning up,,,,in the sump. The scarlet hermits have been pretty good. They all seem to be running around in the shells they came in. I think I have about 5 scarlet hermits in my reef and a few blues in the sump cruising around.
As far as snails go, I'm all stocked up....

That's what I always said - I defended my hermits. There are plenty of grow out shells, my blue legs just don't care. They even killed off my nassarius snails - the shells are too small for them to move in to. They are just mean.
