what kind feeding pump you guys use it
& how about plumbing???

Well the skimmer comes with a recirc pump. In order to feed the skimmer people usually plumb it from the overflow by putting a T on the overflow and put about 300gph into the skimmer and the rest into the sump.

Its here!!

Well here are some pics of the skimmer and packaging. I must say I'm impressed on all aspects. I ordered it last friday and got it today, i called and left a message and within 2 hours someone called me back, the packaging is great, and the skimmer is well built.
I know other have said that they were unimpressed with the build quality of DAS, but i beg to differ. It seems just as "beefy" as the h&s I used to have and identical to the apf600's i've seen in person. When jhale said he wasnt impressed i was thinking it was going to be flimsy like a coralife ss. but this thing is light years ahead of coralife super skimmers and ASM in terms of build quality. I mean honestly do we need to play football with our skimmers? People that choose skimmers on build quality or use that to justify theirpurchase, well to be blunt, seem retarded to me. I mean geez its a stationary object, no moving parts (aside from the impeller of course).

well enough of my rant here are some pics. I might hook it up to a rubbermaid I've got rock cooking in later tonight just to see what it can do.

Your assessment of this skimmer is duely noted and almost completely appreciated. You might want to rethink your choice of inflammatory words though. You're not very politically correct here. Show some compassion for those that you don't know.

to be politically correct the term these days is mentally challenged, Deanos taught me that :)

I don't know about everybody else but if I pay five hundred to three thousand dollars for a bunch of plastic it better be built like a tank.
Out of all out equipment we use the skimmers take the most abuse.
If you've ever had to yank a full skimmer out of a crowded sump you will be praying it does not crack or fall apart. How many times has my skimmer dropped or been knocked around the sink or tub when cleaning it, plenty. It may not be football but for the skimmer it probably feels close.
I'll stand by my assessment that the DAS are kind of flimsy. It's re-enforced where the pumps are attached to the body, but other than that the build quality not very impressive. Aside from that it is a kick a$$ skimmer where it counts, making lots of nasty skimmate, unless your Rich's DAS :P

As far as political correctness - I am not - so you can call me a retard. My wife does multiple times a day. Me and the dogs :D

I tend to disagree. When I pay $1800 for a Deltec skimmer, I expect it to be constructed better then my $658 Euro-Reef skimmer. Yeah it performs way better then the ER but I would also expect it to be built better than the ER such as cell cast acrylic vs extruded, thickness of acrylic so when you accidently drop the cup, it dosen't crack instantaneously. Beaded joint welds vs just acrylic glue, yada...yada...yada.

once again. my apologies. i wasnt calling anyone here a retard. its one of those cases: read what i mean, not what i say

jhale,
I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. maybe the larger ex-2 isnt as "beefy" as the ex1. and i know what you mean about the skimmer having to "play a little football" when moving it in/out of a crowded sump, but still almost any skimmer can take that mild handling.

As far as build quality goes a lot of people talk **** when it comes to Deltecs or Bubble Kings and other high end skimmers. They cant justify the cost.

Quite simply cause they cant afford it and never owned one! No Deltec owner has ever been dissatisfied which is something I can not say about other skimmers. Sure the DAS is a great skimmer (I own the BX3 and am satisfied) but it aint no Deltec. Like they say - "Often duplicated but never replicated. :D

Same goes with high end cars. You dont know it until you have driven one. Once you drive one, you cant go back.............

Just my 02

The ex 2 is just as "wimpy" DAS definitely aint beefy :fishhit:

Hey Herm,
I own a Deltec AP702 & AP600, Euro-Reef CS8-2 RC, Barr Aquatic SK1220 AquaC EV-120 & Urchin, CPR Bak PAk II and a Berlin Turbo.
Can I talk some $hit :lol2:

Love ya Herm :D

I know there must be a seaclone in your closet Warren :D:shhh:

I wish people could have the opportunity to see all the different skimmers side by side, the differences are quite apparent then. It's so hard to tell in photos how a skimmer is really made. with the exception of the elos (because I took the pics ;) )

 It's all good. Thanks for understanding.

Herman, take a lesson here :smash:

I still like my Lifereef. Built well, skims well. Are there better out there? I'm sure of it. But it does what I need it to and is quality construction.
